Five Star Leather Jackets

Cool! Is this a custom design or based on already existing pattern?

It's custom. I've done jackets with Shawn before that worked and I am reusing some of those parts (plain half belt back and sleeves), just changed the front to Highwayman/Hercules Cossack design.

I sent him photos of my Highwayman front and this photoshop jpeg. From the QC photos he sent me, it seemed he hit the measurements spot on. I am not worried about his pattern, but still unsure about the CXL copy leather. I will find out soon enough.

Wow! Measurements look pretty much spot on for me. This might be the perfect startingpoint for me. Just need a slightly different pocket configuration.

I think the leather looks great from the zoomed images.

I immediately asked Shawn to proceed with the build, in essence screaming at my computer “Take my money now!”
But I have yet to hear back. Really want to get this one in the works. If this hide is half as good as it looks and he can add a black and (gulp) burgundy option...hard to look elsewhere IMHO.

It’s not real Horween CXL but Shawn’s copy. Only one member here has gotten this leather so far. I will compare it to the real deal when I get mine.

Yeah I've been following how his in house CXL, err, SXL turns out. Looks like it's the more matte, smoother type of CXL, reminiscent of baseball gloves. My big question is... how does it smell, lol.

Maybe Aero just wasn‘t it for him. Have seen more pictures of him in his redyed 5-Stars than in any of his Aeros now.

Looking at Shawns dark brown „clx“ hide, I sort of want to order a custom jacket too. I really want a repro of that home-sewn 50s halfbelt I bought a year or two ago...

Shawn seemed to fill the brief on leather thickness on this...Looks crazy heavy!

If Aero wants to price match, just like Arnold, I’ll be back. LOL. I can’t have as much input with Aero in terms of design and fit, and that settles it in a way.
