Last week received my 5* order. I pulled the trigger on a vest and jacket at the same time. I decided on a Cossack jacket in premium goat seal brown, cotton lining Olive Color, and olive stitching.
The vest was AVIATOR BIKER VEST SEAL BROWN SHEARLING with some modifications. straight front hem, shirttail back with a 1 1/2 inch drop, two-way zipper with leather pulls.

I am satisfied with both pieces for the total cost.

The vest looks very cool and toasty! Hope it keeps you warm on what seems to be a cold week back east. The Cossack looks great on you. Congrats

Both look perfect on you! I really like how your beanie matches the lining of the Cossack, nice outfit!

Has anybody ordered the steerhide? I'll go for the CR and not sure if I should get it in goatskin or steerhide.

A few members ordered the steerhide but mixed reviews and I noticed people leaned more heavily on the thicker premium goatskin

^^ I really like your buffalo Cossack, I believe it's the one you dyed. Looks like you also got it in an a2 so that means something's right

The A-2 is in the proprietary goatskin Shawn sourced to be used on the Dubow contract. But I contemplated having an A-2 made in the Buffalo before that.

^^ agreed @Imuricecreamman , I think it was the steerhide A-1 that looked nice. @Riu Maybe wait on how the non distressed buffalo in dark brown version looks because the buffalo they use are nice and grainy

I'll probably wait a bit indeed.

I wrote an email to Shawn and waiting for his reply. I remember I saw your goatskin sample @Jin431 and also pictures of other people who showed their goatskin jackets, I like it.

I really liked that sample, it was a thick batch. It was much nicer than my actual jacket to be honest and wished my jacket was made out of that thicker sample.
I hope you pick the best hide out of their offerings.
good luck, hope to see what you come up with them.

Got it, I thought it was also buffalo but the goatskin on that a2 looks great.
I think it was members of VLJ that suggested the specs for the leather on that jacket. I think the brief was that it should be mismatched panels with the flaws such as scars and striations to still be used on the jackets as this was the characteristics of the originals.

I didn't know you could be that specific! I should have done the same when I ordered the deerskin. In hindsight I should have requested for a deerskin that was not milled and have the natural flaws and scars. That's very clever of you to do that. Congrats

This was not on me as I just ordered a stock one in a stock size, but over on VLJ they had close communication regarding the specs for the Dubow A-2 and Shawn even bought a tattered original to get the pattern and dimensions right. But it goes to show how far Shawn will work with you to get what you want. I'm sure if a lot of people requested uncorrected deerskin he would probably offer it. Although I'd have no qualms ordering the same stuff you bought.
