Just stumbled across this video:

http://vimeo.com/11159061

It may not be what we would call a proper fedora, but an
interesting video nonetheless. Apologies if someone posted it here
and I missed it.

Anyone know who the other four hat makers might be and if
any of them produce a good product?

There have been a few discussions about that hat, and the style police came out in force. I kind of like it, but couldn't see spending the money for it. I hadn't watched the video, so thanks for posting it. Anything with that homemade feel is nice.

Not sure if I like the hat or not, it is nifty though. But I definately like that he keeps hatters employed using the same skills.

I take that as a 'U...' or maybe even a 'UN..' ...chuckle

I wouldn't even get as far as 'U' on that hat but I love to watch a hat maker working his craft!

Reviving this thread as I stumbled across the same video as the OP did on my own. After watching it searched the Lounge to see if a thread already existed, hence reviving this thread.

Link to video:

Seeing the technique is what interests me most. I have yet to use a hat block/flange combination that requires trimming prior to removal. I don't own any block/flange combination that would allow me to do that...yet.

They are indeed still around, Stefan. My first Bowler was from them. It was bought by some colleagues of mine when I left a teaching job back in 1997.

Interesting little clip. There's one on youtube as well, more or less the same (but without subtitles). It seems they are still around:

We have someone in our midst who can check them out: @Steve1857 could make an appointment:)
