I can one-up you, Derek, by suggesting the Akubra Camp Draft in Taupe Fawn. Same website, but wider brim than the Federation IV.

Taupe Fawn is on the left:

Also, at Hats-Plus.com, there are quite a few hats by Stetson and Biltmore that should be the color you want. However, for the quality you get for the price, I highly recommend the Akubras.

Neophyte beat me to it, but that's what I was going to recommend as well.

Akubra Campdraft at HatsDirect

Keep in mind, both the Campdraft and the Federation IV are shipped open crown, meaning that the crown is a rounded dome and you crease it into a fedora shape yourself.

In this photo I posted today for the "What Hat Are You Wearing?" thread, I'm wearing a "Tawny Fawn" Akubra Federation IV which can be bought at the aforementioned HatsDirect. Someone mentioned them and I wanted to add a visual cue... I'll dig out a closeup, too.

Black and white, but a closeup... digging for a color closeup.

A good color accurate closeup of the felt color in sunlight. It's a BEAUTIFUL color combination, the fawn and brown ribbon.

Now, the Campdraft has also been mentioned and shown, the brim on it's a touch wider. Here's the lightest color offered in the Campdraft style, Silverbelly.

What size are you? How wide a brim do you want? How tall a crown? Wide ribbon or narrow? Finished brim or unfinished? Except for the color you haven't told us much to help you.

Here's an acorn stylemaster from Akubra. Not quite as wide of a brim.

To be honest... there are a lot of nice hats on ebay too, unless you have a really big head.

But the others are right. Fedora is a big category, some more info on what you want would be good.

eBay

There are a couple of guys selling inexpensive "starter" fur felts (Mostly Scala & Stacy Adams [who?]) on th' bay that often don't get a single bid. A good inexpensive way to see what suits you.

I got one last month and... let's just say that these are some highly motivated sellers, eh? I low balled an offer & had a new fur felt, delivered, for less 'n fifty bucks! :D

Go e-Bay....

You can find a very nice vintage hat on e-Bay. Depeding on your size there just may be many to choose from. There are always lots of Vintage Fedoras in the smaller sizes especially and the prices are very decent. Just be certain of your size. And like Rick said, new stuff too.

I'll 2nd the Fed IV in tawny fawn, the same basic hat theinterchange posted above. The fed is an 'old-fashioned,' no-taper, large-brimmed styled fedora.

You kind of need to figure out what proportions look good on you, not always an easy task.

Heres me in mine:

Ive since altered the top crease, and Im going to completely reblock it soon. Anyway, the pic gives a basic idea of what this hat can look like.

That is a nice hat

... I like the color, too. Another major problem with buying hats online is getting a feel of what the color really its.

Thats definitely true. Its very hard to replicate colors due to lighting conditions. Even my own hats look different, depending where I am.

Man, they sure make it hard to find out what the prices are on that website!!

The prices are also shown in US dollars. You place the hat in your shopping cart, include your shipping address, choose Airmail and the total with shipping cost will come up. In...Autralian dollars. It's been awhile.
Better keep one of these handy...:)
