Jiminy cricket that's a high bridge! The second set of photos give it a whole different perspec9tive. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the folks who built those high bridges and trestles by the "primitive" means available at the time. That they have endured all this time credits the skill and care put into their construction (and upkeep!).

Any idea of the time frame on this bridge? I'm guessing early 1910-20s at the latest, just based on the history of bridges in my part of the world, but I am not well educated on such things.

1934, according to the plaque on front. There are several old covered bridges in the area near this one. They're located close enough that a person so motivated could visit probably at least 3 of them in a day with no rush or trouble. I dont know the age of any of the others, although i have visited some of them in the past.

Darn it Dale that appears to be a perfect day off Covid adventure! Glorious scenery in your part of America. The terrific pictures really showcase the topography to it's finest. Like Zombie said, I too would to hang in your world for a while. The stream pic is precious. What a feast for the eyes.

Thanks sir for adding to this thread. Go Georgia (and of course Dale).

+1 sir! Tonight I am thinking of outdoor weekend adventure spots friendly in the Covid world.

Cheers, Eric -
Thanks Eric. I work in the hospital here, and although I'm extremely grateful that my paycheck has not been negatively impacted by all this, every day I sort of feel like I'm walking into the bomb factory. Getting down to the river or up in the hills really helps keep the stress balanced out

The hat's a Churchill... I'm guessing maybe from the 70s.

I did spend about an hour at the covered bridge. There was a path from the road down to the creek below.

The old barn was tempting....but it seemed like maybe a good way to get shot at so I just snapped some pics from the road and kept driving.
FYI, the Atlantic magazine's Alan Taylor's been doing a weekly photo-essay on different states, and about three weeks ago did a very nice one on Alabama. I'm sure you'd recognize many of the sites. Your shots are as good, if not better, than the ones in the mag. And by the way, and with regard to one of your earlier comments, I remember sitting in a bar in New Orleans in 1971 when one of the local barflies, on taking his leave, said, "Well, guys, see Rock City!" I've used the line on several occasions.

Just spectacular panorama! You need to be on the Georgia tourism board as your recent pics show a Georgia that I did not know existed. Enjoy the weekend sir.
Thank you Eric. It was a fine weekend to a relaxing week off. Hopefully I banked up enough peace and calm to last me awhile.

Northern Georgia... or essentially East TN or West SC/NC is an absolutely gorgeous area. I miss our travels there since my in-laws sold their place in Spencer, TN
You are correct, sir. There's so much beauty in those hills, and I feel pretty fortunate to be so close that I can enjoy it as easily and often as I do. In less than 2 hours I can be well immersed in it.

Beeeeyoootiful! Cute pup too!
Thanks, Al!

I would get after you for not stopping by but I wouldn’t have let you in anyway. Great pics, Cuz. Been awhile since I covered that territory.
I thought about you, Cuz, but it was a spur of the moment trip and I didn't want to last minute you, especially with all the mess going on these days. I'll head up when the world is healthier and we'll have some proper beer drinking. Maybe on a day that's not so blazing hot.
