Fair warning: this will be long & about alcoholic beverages. If you find either to be offensive, you might want to skip...
Hell Jack, I'm not even much of a drinker and I thought your write-up was far more interesting than some of the tours my wife and I have endured while on vacation. It sounds like your time was well spent!

That shine sure looks good, and that line up! With an educated palate for whiskey, it was probably a lot of fun but also educational. Glad you got to take that tour! Will be awaiting more reviews on the shine!

Thanks DD. I've looked at the schedule for the Bourbon Fest starting Wed 9/12 - Sun 9/16. Typical festival with lots to eat & drink, music & entertainment. But they do have some bourbon seminars that could be educational to attend. Since I have a daughter living in the area I'm wondering about attending for a couple of days in the wk. Haven't decided yet if it would be worthwhile or not.

Thanks Zombie. I really enjoyed it. The tour ticket was a gift from my daughter & son-in-law living in that area. I really enjoyed it but would like to be able to talk to those Master Distillers one on one without all the people who are just along for the ride. That's what he meant when he said come anytime other than a weekend.

For the sake of research and education, I think you should go. [emoji16]

Excuse me!! But “Hurricane Jack’s” would be an awesome, best ever name for a boutique distiller!! And your Avatar on the label of course!

We also stopped by Santa Fe Hat Company. Talked to JD. I had met JD in Denver a few years ago. It was good seeing him again.

I also met Randy Rodriguez from Rio Bravo Trading Company. A great guy and his shop is full of cool stuff!

There are a few good boot shops in Santa Fe, both new & used. This one comes to mind:

Part one of my Alaskan Adventure:
Our first port of call was Juneau, the capital of Alaska. Whale watching excursion and a fine dinner at the top of Mount Roberts with an enjoyable tram ride. My Brother in Law's high school friend is the Executive Chef. He got us the best table and really pulled out the culinary stops on an excellent meal.

Part Two: Skagway Alaska was by far my favorite stop. Being a railroad historian, the White Pass & Yukon Railroad excursion was the high point of our trip for me. The line was built in 1898 for the Yukon Gold Rush. The weather was exceptional, clear and in the 70s. The second part of the day we went on a Dog Musher Adventure. The high point for this was the Mercedes Benz Unimog transports to the top of the mountain to meet the dog teams. Six gears forward and six in reverse! I told the guide I had a Mercedes back home and I got to ride in the cab! The driver played those gears like a virtuoso violinist. I was so excited, my wife didn't understand...
