Fedora to accompany jeans and t-shirt

Last week at our weekly classic car cruise-in there was a guy with an old Chevy who had on a white T shirt under a white short sleeve dress shirt, open and untucked with black pants of the Dockers-type snug fit variety. They weren't dressy at all. He had a black fedora with about a 2 inch brim and he looked great. He was a Latino in his late 20s with a short mustache and goatee.

The look worked for him and would have even if he'd have jeans.

Here is one of my 'everyday' brims...

... as modeled by the invisible man...:p

I wear this c. 1953 Borsalino with everything from jeans & a (solid color) t-shirt to button downs w/ chinos & a jacket.
I guess what makes it seem more everyday than, say, my Akubra Fed is, I guess, kind of its less robust proportions... seems somewhat more low-key and 'less showy' for lack of a better term...

How did you come up with the date "1953" for your Borsalino?

... it is a pretty arbitrary assignment of a date... based solely on (wishful thinking) information that I have gleaned here on The Fedora Lounge as to the appearance of the liner

& supposed 'date code' present on the small white sticker beneath the sweat... I hope it to be of that vintage... but... I dunno, really.

Rick

Problem

Here's the thing:

I love wearing hats; I love fedoras---but I also love dressing casually. I don't think a t-shirt, jeans and a fedora really go together but I want to wear my hat.

I think if you can go all day and not see another person in a fedora then you have the green light to wear whatever you want with your lids[huh] I wear every manner of clothing with my lids and don't sweat it too much

Unless you're horribly embarassed to be seen wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and a fedora, just do it. If you want, throw on a vest, sportcoat, or a jacket. Don't forget footwear. After all, they're your clothes. [huh]
