I thought this group interesting...

1925. "Applicants to Paramount Motion Picture School." .... all unknown and everyday... rolled up stockings and bobs ( only one didn't want to cut her hair) :)

A dear friend gave me some photos of "everyday women" so I scanned them:

(Can someone point me towards picture FAQs. I recall there being one. My files were deemed too big to come via Photobucket. So I guess my technique needs refinement. I'm losing too much detail this-away. Thanks! ) **NEVER MIND! I found the FAQ. Now just have to study it...

I believe this was taken in the late fifties/early sixties. It's a compilation of home movies from my grandparents. The beginning is quite dark, but it lightens up around 3:00. It's extremely long but certainly worth a quick peek! What I find fascinating is how they are playing at 5:20. I wish people still got together like this. Looks like fun!

Aw, thanks you all for the compliments on the pictures. I wasnt expecting such a warm response. Thats so sweet!

I never met my Great Grandmother. She died decades before I came a round.

Yeah, my Granny was a looker back then. So was my Mama, and she knew it ;). Shes the one on the right.

My grandmother in Germany, in the summer of 1938. She's the second from the left (the blonde girl in a light dress who smiles at the camera). She was 13 and sent there to improve her German (which was the primary foreign language taught in Sweden before WWII). One of the older ladies is the mother of the family she stayed with and the younger girl was their daughter Astrid.

It's nice to know that when I'm too lazy to do a set or finger waves, I can still brush it into a bun and call it vintage. :) I love the cloche hats. I would wear them but hats are so uncomfortable to me.

Family photos, 1930's mostly.

IMG_20150329_162522.jpg

Unknown family friend, my great-grandmother and my maternal grandmother, Easter vacation in Tännäs, mid-1930's.

My grandmother in the pointy cap, her friend Tanja and someone else I can't identify. I love that cap and wish it still existed.

They had a lot of fun, looking at these albums. Summer holidays at Blidö, my maternal great-grandmother and a friend, early 1930's. There's a corresponding photo of their very merry husbands posing in bathing suits with cigars - these are not giddy young girls, they are established, married women in their mid- or late 30's. I think that fact really adds to the photo. They would have been considered middle-aged, and they still had frivolous fun.

My great-grandmother, same as above, in the late 1930's. I do have that muff.

And again, early 1940's. Want this hat too.

Great-grandma behind the table, sitting on the far left is her sister, and the baby with the shock of dark hair in her lap is my maternal grandmother, who was born in January 1920 and nicely dates this photograph to 1920 or possibly 1921.
