I won this book on eBay recently and it just arrived today. When I opened it, what should I find but these vintage photos that were pasted inside!

Next time I brush out my set I won't feel so bad about not having a totally flat crown and more fluffly ringlets thanks to this glamorous gal:

Just being a bit pedantic here, she isn't 'fixing' her shoe, but making a little protective cover for the toe from thread so as not to wear out the satin so quickly. (I used to do ballet, although we used to glue little crocheted ones on - much easier!)

Sydney, Australia lady fixing her ballet slipper .... probably long dead by now ... nice photo though

Some family album pics -- I don't know who these ladies are. Though the one on the right in the first two pics looks like my great aunt.

My wife found these

I know I am a male and that this is really a ladies section but my wife has been looking over my shoulder and wanted to look at this thread. She remembered these images and thought they were appropriate for this thread.

Here's the link for the photos http://www.swingfashionista.com/2009/07/hollywood-vine-1944/

In the meantime, I will work on convincing my wife to join the forum (perhaps you could help me convince her).

All the Best, Fashion Frank

I did a search and it doesn't look like this has been posted here. I just came across this directory by happenstance. SO many lovely vintage gals, but this one from the 40s I especially love. The one on the right reminds me a little of Ella Mae Morse.

Looking through those pictures on the website make you realize just how much the outside of those buildings has stayed the same while other parts of the campus are becoming so modern!! Thanks for sharing!

- a photo of a photo of my late Grandma - Władysława, the original taken around 1950 I pressume. Snapshot was taken with my mobile whilst visiting my parents, and it isn't of great quality, unfortunately, the curtain reflecting in the glass and all, but hasn't she had a lovely smile?

I have been thoroughly enjoying this thread, and I have saved a few pictures for some hairstyle experiments. :)
Here are a few pics I have to share on the thread.

My Great Aunt Mabel, who I was named after. I love her waves.

My Paternal Grandparents with my Father, 1950.

This is my Great-Grandmother 'Momba', in an evening dress, early '50's. She was probably on her way to an Eastern Star meeting.
