So, after six months (not bad), finally received a new pair of RoleClub. Beautifuo as always and light weight this time, due to pure leather sole. However, something scary with them, I can’t get my heel past the neck (just above the heel cup). I recall my first pair five years ago to also be fitted around the turn but I can get past it with a small push, not these. I can see my heel making a bulge at the rear. Still waiting to hear back from Brian.
but for my own remedy, I think a boot shaft stretcher (I have such a contraption) can fix right? It’s really a matter of stretching the two shaft panels and cause minimal strain on seams?

That's too bad, that's a good-looking pair of boots. That's why I only have a couple of pair of pull-on boots, though, and why I almost never wear them. I have a really tall/full instep, and making the boot big enough to get my foot into it causes it to have a really loose/sloppy hold on the instep and heel once I get it on. That's a shame, because I really like engineer boots.

I had a pair of Wesco harness boots i just sold recently. After a week on a stretcher at a local cobbler, they were still too tight. The leather was simply too thick. I miss them already, they got a new home on E-bay.

I had this issue with my Lofgrens. I used a plastic bag to put them on for about a month and then I was able to put them on normally. Using a pair of dress socks with a high elastic content helps as they are pretty slippery too.

Yep, been doing just that, thin socks and plastic bag (that came with the boots, ironically). Certainly my right foot is much deformed lol, left one can go on with a healthy amount of squeeze, but right one feels dangerously tight, except when using plastic bag.

This is an example of my big concern with going custom. It’s a lot of money and time and still might not work out. OTR you can tell usually within a week of hitting buy and send them right back if it doesn’t work.

Yes, Masa worked for Brass Tokyo/Clinch and is now in Japan. We have swapped a lot of messages on Instagram and he’s lovely. As soon as I can get over the border into Germany I will send him one or both pairs.

RoleClub fans, quick heads up, Brian might be able to offer a new range of leather. I have to shamelessly claim credit here, as I told him about the possibility to purchase SB Foot leathers. I have a stack of SBF sample from Hide House and I can see engineer boots made of any of them, Klondike is just one of them. I’ve always wanted a RoleClub made out of Red Wing leather so now it seems possible. He showed interest.

With some standard stretching, it’s getting much better. He said “he made it that way”. So at least it’s not due to incompetence. Next time I’ll just have to tell him NOT to make it that way.

I've had a similar issue with one foot in a pair of 7" Chippewas. At first I thought I was going to have to sell them off, but I could get my bare foot in, and over time I could get both. A 1.25L bottle of Pepsi Max was just a good size to stuff into the shaft to help pull it out. I still occasionally find them slow to get on, but the more I wear them, the more they break in. It's annoying on one hand, but on the other having had boots that where a half size too large from the outset and needed insoles to snug 'em up, these are over time becoming far more comfortable to wear and walk in for extended periods.

What do you all think of Prof Barnet's boots out of Indonesia? Custom at $250 is tempting.

Never handled any. Labour is cheap out there, though, so if the materials are good, could be worth trying. I had a beautiful pair of shoes made years ago in Beijing for much less. My only concern at that price would be they'd go too 'light' if you want a rugged pair of mc style boots rather than "fashion" boots, but that all depends on the maker.
