Yes I agree that above $700 is not clear what you are paying for. We are still talking about a lot of money, I mean a pair of bench made C&J boots is $600.

Do you know they heel height off hand?

The heel height on the Flat Heads is 1 1/4". Not sure what the convention is for measuring heel height but I am including the mid sole in that measurements. Wesco's are 1 3/4", and the half inch difference feel significant.

I was gonna go with the natural cxl. I prefer a lower heel as well. How does the last fit?
Mine are natural cxl as well. I'm between an 11D and 11E on the brannock with a high instep, and wear these in 9.5. The last is similar to Viberg's 2030/2060 last but with a less exaggerated almond toe shape.

I like a lower heel too. The only ones i found that low were a pair of redwings and they were easy to walk in like Iron Rangers. Others i have at 1 3/4” are harder initially but once they break in and the heel wears down they are fine.

Lack of demand, no economies of scale and a skewed perception of handmade goods and quality in a fast fashion era.

But Wesco meet those criteria and stay just below $700 where Lofgren come in closer to $1000

Just got in some Viberg Engineers and the heel is just a hair over 1 1/4". I'll post some pics later but they are right on the money.

Some shots of the Viberg Engineers in waxed natural cxl. Standard & Strange gave excellent sizing advice, these fit like a dream. The scalloped rolled top and side seam give the boots a distinct western feel.

May I ask why Moto in stead of Motor? Motor is the work boot branch, Moto is sort of modified easy wearing branch. Besides Motor comes in US sizes and gen 1 and 3 are CXL.

I never realized that the brand had a separation of labels. I just always referred to them as moto. I was looking at the Motor dress horsebutt. Something, I had my eye on for a long time. I regret not while I was in Tokyo last November mainly because Im not sure when I will be able to get back over there. These are the motor boots I was thinking about. I sent an email in english but might have my wife send an email in Japanese to get a better response.

I would like a pair very much. My trepidation is paying that much $, waiting that long, and then not being 100% happy with the fit. If I ever happened to be in L.A. I would find a way to get to the shop and work it out in person. Otherwise I prefer something I can exchange/return.

I posted mine over a year ago.

The dress engineer is quite different from other Motor boots, style, materials used etc. It might have been made by another company.

yes, include the mid sole, simply measure from bottom of foot to end of heel (rubber), top to bottom. include everything in between.

@VestCoast is that ^ how you got 1 1/4”?
If so that is a 1/2” lower than my Lofgren. I’d be interested in trying that. Too bad they don’t make them anymore. I’m not a huge fan of the naturals initially though i have seen many posted that have aged magnificently.

Yep, from the top of the midsole where it meets the upper to bottom where it touches the ground. Both the Flat Heads and Viberg come in at 1 1/4".

Pretty sure Selfedge still has black and natural flat heads in stock.

I would have liked to give that a try. Sometimes i feel like taller heel heights leave my hamstrings tight at the end of the day. Not in the market right now. My black lofgrens are only 5 months old and I have another pir of boots on the way.
