Casechopper, how comfortable are those OR's for walking? I haven't seen them before, but the upper parts really look like a pair of Carolinas I had years ago. I loved those boots, but they weren't made for walking a lot. I like the way the soles on those look as well.

I wouldn't want to walk a long ways on concrete with them. They're quite heavy. They do have good support so they'd be fine for standing for a long time but the weight would be a killer for walking long distances.

several months back I drew a boot design I wanted to have it custom made through local bootmaker,

still not finished yet... but through several conversations I got these work in progress photos probably interesting enough to share here

the hide is a finished full grain cow, and not an oil pull leather.
probably would be considerably less weather/ water resistant since it is not stuffed with oil, and also requires more frequent conditioning, but on the plus side probably quicker to break in, more breathable, and I love some grain.
I'm OK with that since I'm mostly indoor and living in tropical climate.

Old Red Wing PT-91 2268s. They are due for a resole, so I'll be taking them to Brian at Role Club here in L.A. soon.

Hey Mike. The C Comet started life as an XL from Vanson. But I liked the jacket so much and it was so rare, I bought it in that size and had it tailored by a very good leather tailor here in L.A. Now, it's about a large, perhaps a bit on the medium side.

Still fits well and I ride with it all the time.

So are you normally about a 42 in a numerical size jacket? I passed up a large recently because I'm usually a 44 and I was concerned it would be small on me. Please post more on those boots if Brian works on them. I like what he does.

Hey all, it's been a while since I have had anything to share. Well, I discovered a pair of the Frye "Artisanal" Engineers on sale for $255 the other day, so I thought I'd give them a try - I can always return 'em, right? Silly name aside, they look pretty nice.

I just ordered them on Sunday, so I will have to post my impressions when they arrive. I figured that I couldn't turn down a chance to try out a pair of $800 boots for $250. I figure they were majorly overpriced for what they are, but Frye's have always fit me well, and they are made with Horween leather. I haven't been impressed with a lot of the recent Frye boots, but these look pretty nice, and I like the overall profile and build. We'll see if they are worth it (I am pretty spoiled since I wear White's Nomads every day).

Kato, those look fantastic. Is Horween Latigo a thicker/stiffer leather than Chromexcel? Can you tell us how much those cost?
