Frye look nice.... they did that "Brando" one a few years ago that had a double buckle at the top, if memory serves. Both the brown and black were nice in those. How's the fit in a Frye?

UGG engineer boots?? Whatever works, I guess.

The Frye boots fit pretty spot on, Edward. I normally go US 11, and mine are a perfect fit. They have a cushioned poron insole, which is very comfortable, but I did end up slipping a pair of thin leather insoles on top of them because they felt kind of weird.
The Brando boots by Frye (if they still make them) had a leather sole if I remember correctly.one are the more generic 12R, they have a nylon corded rubber sole. I wear these boots a LOT and it has held up very well.

As to DMs, wasn't there an old song that said something to the effect "punk's become a fashion, just like hippie used to be, now it don't have a thing to do with you or me"?

Bunyip, congrats on a fantastic looking pair of boots. Maybe you can find a cobbler who can put a little extra leather into the heel of the brown ones, then you'll be set.
I can understand your frustration about the buckles, but to my eyes the chrome ones look good against the black. I hope at least they sent you your other ones back.

Bunyip I agree those are great boots. I absolutely love them. As I said over and over those brown boots can be fixed with the right heel. Those are still fabulous Wesco engineers. As for color I have always worn brown boots with the exception of my engineers were always black. That's the color of the 50's and engineers. Now however that has changed and I probably wear brown engineers more but I can put on a pair of brown Wescos or black Wescos and the same pair of jeans, it makes no difference. Just wear them and enjoy. I have a class today and will wear engineers. Regius I never new that kind of torture device existed. wonder what else ideas you had there????

The Rand engineers, which I think have been discontinued, came a half-size large (Zappos still has a few sizes), but the other Fryes I have were right on the money. Sheepdog, who posts here, recently got a pair of the Tyler engineers, which are shorter boots and look very nice. BTW, I always thought the Punk interest in engineers was inspired by the Velvet Underground, particularly John Cale.

Yes, they are both lovely. I've been meaning to send the brown ones to Brass in Japan to get redone. I cannot find a cobbler in Australia who knows what I'm talking about, even with photos etc...so, they are going to Japan for cosmetic surgery. I've just plowed the rest of my cash getting my motorbike back on the road and registered etc...will let you know what happens with the buckles. I got a message from
Kyle saying he was stumped, as the boots were sent direct from Wesco...I'm a bit disappointed, but not bitter, as I think the black ones are amongst the nicest I've seen..

Great boots Bunyip. Shame about the buckles but they look fantastic. Now where the hell is that jacket?!
I know right? I had given Scotty my measurements, and tweaked a few things. I didn't want it short short. I think I might get a bit of casual use out of it. So he gave the measuremnts to John, and then he went to LA for inspiration, that cool fashion/ vintage thing for 3 days. Anyway, I was waiting for jacket. Then he got back, and John hadn't started it as he felt the ,measurements were wrong, so we started again. The Skookum has a straight front and back( same length) I changed that to a bit longer at the back, and the front should just cover my belt. I was pretty disappointed as we spent 2 weeks already checking everything 10 times...I got an email yesterday, it's on the way, I've ordered some other gear so we finalised it all...I thought I would have had before yours! It's been going for over a year, with me changing my mind, then had a bike accident and had to cancel to get some living cash and a lawyer, and then built it up again to 2 jackets worth of cash, then wanted a horse hide d pocket instead etc etc. I'm glad I threw my credit card away before coming across the fedora lounge. I would be in more hot water than a boiled egg otherwise!

Glad it's finally on the way. Hopefully all that checking and double checking of dimensions really nails it and you end up with a long term keeper. I was almost embarrassed when mine showed up before yours, but I think mine was a bit more straightforward.

So was I!
I'm pretty cool with it. I had changed my mind so many times, and then stacked on the weight, so I didn't want to order a jacket until I was getting back on track. I initially wanted it as a 40th birthday present to myself in September, realised I was fat as a fool and pressed pause, then I wanted it for XMAS, I'm not sure what happened then, anyway. I got the Wesco yesterday, a new helmet I've had at the pinstripers should be here any day now, and then the Langlitz, I've got a few weeks off work for the first time in 3 years( no pay:() but lots of goodies arriving, and the bike is back on the road as of yesterday, so all in all, it's going to be a good week. And yes, if it doesn't fit, Im not sure what I will do....fingers crossed. I will say this though, I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole process with Langlitz, and over time have gotten to know the guys pretty well, and it's been lots of fun, and very informative.

Took a trip to see Brian today to get sized. Got to actually see the boots in person and wow am I impressed!!!

They are far more beautiful than I even thought. The leather is some of the best I have ever seen. Perhaps as beautiful as Shinki even:D
He was very nice and it feels great to actually know my boots will be made exactly to his specs. I even got to try on a pair of size 11 boots, which was extremely helpful because while I am a size 10, it did show that I need a larger boot shaft because of my wide instep.

Brian was also kind enough to chat with me a bit, but not for too long as he obviously is inundated with orders! Meeting him and seeing these boots in person made me more excited than ever to get mine.

I can post pics if required, but they aren't great.

Pics if required? It didn't happen if there are not pictures posted. :D On a less snarky note, very jealous that you got into the lair and would love to see any quality pics that you can post.

Ok here are some pics. I didn't get any with Brian because I didn't want to bother him too much, maybe I will get a selfie with him when I pick up my boots:D

It really is amazing how much cameras kill the brown color. More than any other of his boots (and most other boots), they look a LOT better in person.

Thanks for the pics. Totally agree that brown is very difficult to photograph. Can't wait to see how yours turn out.

Sorry if this has been covered to death, but I need a little sizing advice on Attractions Horse Butt Engineers. I'm an 8 in Whites SD, Buco Engineers and Converse All-Stars. Would I be an 8 in Attractions as well? Thanks so much.
