Scotty my friend, that's a super lid. Love that colour ribbon too.
I've a growing respect for Champ and, in fact, am wearing my Champ 'Take-off' stingy today.

It's much softer felt than other Champs I've had - very Whippet-like in feel. The pics actually capture the color fairly well. The hat was kind of dusty, but cleaned up very well.

Two great hats for low, low prices. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

I really enjoy getting a dirty misshapen hat (but with no moth holes) and cleaning it up - very rewarding. It was also surprising to see the nice colors come out during the brushings.

Resistol XXXXX Kitten Finish

...last one for the day. 7 1/4, 2 7/8" brim. I've heard good things about the Kitten Finish, so I took a chance on this one. I removed the hatband and thin ribbon, and laid this brown 1940's Knox ribbon on it - debating on using this one, or having a black one made. The pic of the bottom captures the color best.

Thanks Tom, I wore it out to dinner this evening - it jumped into the 'top 10' immediately.

Scott -- is that a purple edge binding? I dig it!

Cheers,

Yes, good eye! Somehow it works very well with the different felt and ribbon color.

Cavalier Milan

Cheers,

I have never owned a Milan, but have handled a few in the antique stores that were too small - really a superb feel to them.

Having said that, I have three Milans arriving this week and hoping one of them will be a keeper.

Amen to that. I totally agree. Makes 'em more my own when I have to put a little effort in to bring 'em back around. Great eye for hat flesh you've got there, Scott. :eusa_clap

Good one, Scott! I watched that one to the end and decided I didn't need yet another project to try to get around to when I have too many already. :eusa_doh: I, too, thought the inclusion of the Strat would raise the price higher than it went, but the auction wasn't that well presented. I've also noticed that selling multiple hats in one auction usually brings less than if the hats were sold separately.

Cheers,
Tom

What's ironic it is that the 3x Mode Edge is one of my favorite hats, but I really don't care for Stratoliners. Hey, just remembered - I have two original Stratoliner pins. Guess this will be returning to the bay with accoutrements (the first Strat with 2 pins?)

Both of those will need some work. And is the strat really purpleish or is that a camera artifact?

Hard to say - the seller referred to the Mode Edge as 'gray', so that implies the Strat is not gray. My guess is 'brown'. If you photoshop to make the Mode Edge gray, the Strat turns sort of brown.
