Great Lid jimmy.....

Well, I sat down this morning with my coffee and came across this lid within 10 minutes after it had been listed. A Knox Tom n' Jerry with a stitched brim:

It's not in the condition I usually look for -- but I think it's sufficiently rare that I couldn't pass it up. This one will definitely be headed to Optimo for a cleaning so that Graham and company can work their magic.

Cheers,
JtL
Can't wait to see it all cleaned up and on your head. :eusa_clap

Thanks Bolt & Sue! Aside from a Royal Stetson I have with a similar brim treatment, this is the only other vintage lid I have seen with a stitched brim (I'm not counting the hats that have concentric stitching throughout the entire crown and brim -- like the amazing lid that ScottF recently scored). I hope the Tom n' Jerry will clean up OK, but we'll see.

Cheers,
JtL

I am disappointed to hear that an, er, experienced hat wearer like
rlk thinks it's out of the ordinary to practice safe hat wearing in this
day and age.

And yes, 7 1/4 is tiny. I might go so far as to say useless,
though I'm sure others feel differently. That sort of thing
might be acceptable in Portland, but down here in the big city
we demand big hats.

Good point, especially if you'd ever end up with one of HPG's work hats. lol

After just taking the SHUDDE BROS Factory Tour I'm guessing that the hat is all right for $58 including shipping [huh].

I think you're probably right. I bought a Shudde bros about six months ago that was stiff as cardboard, so I've stayed away from them since then.

That's the only exterior shot they had.

This is what the inside looks like. '80s or newer, but I'm no good at dating the new ones.

Picked up this Habig Homburg for $32.00. Listed as 58/59 cm. Looks to be in very good condition. The liner and logo are similar to my 1940 so might be a old one.

Well done Bob - the seller is a lounger too.

I thought so. I can't remember who it is, but I've seen the handle on the bay before. I'll give his lid a good home. I promise.
