I'm anxiously waiting for this one to arrive. $9.99 plus $15 shipping was more than I could resist. My experience with Beaver brand hats has been very good, and this one looks pretty good aside from one moth bite (last pic) - not sure how deep.

Didn't see a Panama - but I didn't check the seller's other auctions. I admit that I was really surprised no one else took a swing at this one. I didn't get brim width or other dimensions, but my eye tells me it's going to work out OK.

BTW - I have a new avatar. It's a doodle of a little man that my dad drew for many decades. He passed away in 1997 and I finally found one of his old doodles - scanned it and thought it would make a nice avatar.

That listing is wrong in just about every way. I guess the seller does get points for calling it felt (or felt-type material), rather than velvet.

There are a lot of great auctions ending tonight.
Here's a 7 1/8 Stratoliner for $77.

:D Seller stated in listing 'no international sales' but I thought it was worth contacting and asking her if she might make an exception, based on my feedback scores etc., and she did. So in 2 or 3 weeks hopefully I can place my nice pin on an equally nice hat.

That's a pretty good listing.

What's wrong about it? The only thing missing, that i can see is a lack of brim width and crown height, and this can hardly be expected from a non-specialist.

Given that the Ford Model A went out of production in 1931, it is reasonable to assume you might still see some around when this hat was made. Given a little bit of wiggle on the eras, i'd say the seller wasn't too far wrong (for example, i think it is resonable to call anything 5 years either side of WWII official dates "WWII era")

Not ebay but she got me again...

This lady has my number, well my email, & used it again. She had 1 more Open Road from the same guy that I bought 2 from on ebay. This time it is a 7 1/2 Extra Long Oval, Royal Stetson Open Road, looks like 1950's or so. That size & shape, I had to go for it & since I got the refund from the tiny Playboy fiasco, I haggled with her. Got it cheaper than the others because it didn't have a liner. This new site has some vintage lids out there...

It's listed in:
Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Men's Accessories > Hats > Wide Brim

with a title of:
Men's Derby Model A Era Felt

It should be listed in:
Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Vintage > Vintage Accessories > Men's Hats > Stetson >

or

Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Vintage > Vintage Accessories > Men's Hats > Fedora >

with a title as simple as:
Stetson Hat

A potential buyer can ask questions about measurements if the auction can be found. If the auction can't be found, the best description doesn't mean much. For the buyer who did manage to find the listing, this is great news.
