You can find The Cummins machine in various conditions on ebay from $50-$150 or so, depending on condition, other bidders, the moon and its phases and who leaks the auction on the Lounge! [bad]

The average cost for a Cummins machine on standard (read: non-ebay) selling sites appears to be between $150-$350. Again, condition, website location, hosting costs, where it's being sold are a factor, and if the person has a shop where they pay rent, utilities, employees, etc.

Cummins machines are sold approximately on ebay 6-8 times a year, from my research, and if you are patient and decide what you are looking for, you might be able to get one in your price range.

I spent 8 months looking for one, and paid higher than ebay prices from an antique dealer, because he was a machine specialist who tested the machine for me, and advised me of the condition in detail and was extraordinarily nice to work with. For me personally, the firsthand knowledge was worth it, instead of going the cheap ebay route and finding that a 17 pound machine had a defect that was unlikely to get fixed.

If you search for Cummins Initial Machine in the Lounge Search engine, you will find pictures I posted of my machine. Some detailed pictures might determine what YOU want in a machine in the future, and if condition is a determining factor and how it affects your bidding.

Resistol Kitten Finish

This ever happen to anyone else... you see a hat you not sure you really want, but you throw down a pretty low bid anyway, figuring you'll never win it. Then, a week later, you get the damn thing!

Well, it just happened to me on this Vintage Resistol Kitten Finish Fedora.

This hat, which I would date to the '60s, may have too small a crown for me, but I like the kitten finish. If it doesn't work out for me, I doubt I'll lose money on it.

This one seems to be on the newer side. I also found an original box locally that I got a good deal on.

The bad news is, there were moth tracks on the underside of the brim.

The good news is (1)The hat is otherwise in new condition. (2) It's a Beaver brand MAJOR. (3) I had a coupon for free shipping. (4) HIDDEN BEHIND THE SWEATBAND WERE FIVE ONE DOLLAR BILLS!

For a total cost of $19.50, it's a keeper.

I'm pretty sure this is the model stetson that's sold at LL Bean, and is now in the outlets. All the ones I've seen in the outlet stores are very big, 7-3/4 or 7-7/8. Chances are someone bought them there and made some money on ebay on them. They're pretty good hats.
