I know Marc, cap were worn as an everyday hat and didn't cost as much as a fedora. So they where tossed out when they became worn out.
So they are rarer than fedora's especially the 20's and 30's ones.

Alan I tried and you and RLK tried. :)
These caps are getting to be as pricey as good fedoras
I just read in one of the hit or miss style mags (esquire, gq or something like that), that the current trend is towards caps and away from fedoras. I think it is kind of funny, as that is reflected in the popularity of the cap thread recently here as well.

And it's my size, so with luck there won't need to be any stretching or padding. My only real worry is whether it can get here before Christmas!

ETA: Depending on what the hat "says" to me, it might be fun to have a narrower charcoal ribbon put on, a la the Stetson Playboy . . . but we'll see.

Damn, well, I guess I just saved a lot of money. Seller was wrong about the '30s part, it was '40s, but I was still hoping to get it.

Hi Brad,

Can you speak more on the dating? I thought the 247 Park Avenue address would put it in the mid-30s. It was a great listing in a big size.

Actually the seller dates the hat from 35-36 which would indicate that the seller got the date from Brads post on Cavanagh liners.

Brad, I too would like to know why in this particular instance the 247 address doesn't make it a 30's hat?
