Actually I live on 80 directly between Chicago and Moline...........being thus in the northern part of the state we get to Rockford ( and Wisconsin) often..........
Liking museums and historic sites my wife and I go all over, we were in both Southern Iowa and Northwest Missouri just last weekend where among other stops we went to the Battle of Athens historic site.........

All that said, it would be fun to get together when you are in the neighborhood...:):):)

Yes, it would be, Mark! I usually go fishing in Chetek, Wisconsin every year, but I doubt I will go in 2020. When I go, i will call you!

I have not been there but have been to La Crosse and Stephens Point. Stephens Point has had some awesome military vehicle shows and sale ....lots of military flea market stuff too.......:):):)

1950s Saks Fifth Avenue.

I thought this one had flown away... as it went for a pretty penny on it’s first auction. Fortunately for me the original winner did not pay (hope it wasn’t anyone here) and this one fell in my lap. Seller says this Saks logo was only used in 1955.. if true a pretty good dating mechanism

BANCROFT was well known for making service caps in WW2 (and advertised their Officer caps especially). Packed away somewhere I have at least one.......(service cap that is).
Nice snare.....

Hi Max... I posted a comparison some years back featuring two longhair early 20th century hats - a Stetson clear nutria and a Bancroft beaver fur. Perhaps you've seen it before:

https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/side-by-side-hat-comparisons.65983/page-26#post-2012620

I have more photos of the Bancroft which I'm sure are posted around these parts somewhere. Let me know if you haven't seen them and I will share with you.
Please do, Alan! Thanks yet again. Do you have info on the Bancroft brand itself?

I found them, Alan! Yours and mine are the only non-military hats I could find on the Lounge
