Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I just bought this mystery hat after resisting temptation for a full 24 hours! I am proud of myself; I'm improving. I even managed to feign disinterest and brought the seller down on the price.
Anyway, it comes in a Mossant box, but the logo isn't Mossant. Pretty sure it's French, because although the logo is an American Eagle holding an American flag, it says "Derniere Crèation Paris"
And who could resist that sweatband? I had never seen one like that one.

Great catch, Max and interesting as well to see if it's American or French. I actually like the green colour of the liner; very striking. Could even have been coloured with arsenic:D

even though Ignacio can resize my hats on the cheap, if they're not of historical value, I mean, I always ask for interior measurements.
Here is my stock question:

Measuring the interior perimeter is difficult, and often not precise.
Could you please measure the front-to-back and side-to-side of the hat opening precisely? Just an eighth of an inch makes a difference in the size.
Yeah, I ask for measurements pretty much the same way, when the seller doesn’t list the size or have pics of the tag.
But maybe I should start doing it for every hat I’m interested in, which would be a lot, these days since I’m buying hats for resell and some for myself.

When Redfokker puts a hat up for sale you know you're getting a good one.
I ended up with two homburgers (kind of like a hamburder for your head) from this gentleman, they're both REALLY nice.
Here's the latest for my hirsute noggin, the old St. Regis.
The hat is in nearly unused condition, the eBay photo makes it look stained but it's not.
A beauty, thank you once again!

Here is how I ask for measurements: "Hi, could you help me with the hat size? To find out, measure in two places. Measure straight across the hole where your head goes in from ear to ear. Then measure again from where the forehead sits to where the back of the head would be. We can use these two measurements to get the circumference which will then give is the hat size."

Loro Piana. Yes, I know it is a woman's hat, but it's 100 percent Canadian Beaver, and Ignacio can make me a hat with this felt for sure. I reallly like the color saturation. Besides, it is new with tags, retail $1200 (clearly not worth that much), but the seller accepted my $250 offer.
Worse comes to worse, I can gift it to Ana.

I also send them this table that Brent sent me:

I can mail a package that is 12X12X12 across country for $16. The same weight in a box that measures 13X12X12 is $48. Just one inch more! Makes no sense to me, but there it is.

If it's the same issue I encountered shipping my hat back to Worth and Worth, the larger boxes are too big to process by some sort of sorting machine. IIRC what the post office called it was "machine processible."

The colour is great. Curious to see what Ignacio is going to make of it. I suspect this adaptation won't get as much boo hiss as others;)

i wanted a western straw for the summer and snagged this guy yesterday. i <knew> shipping charge per auction wasn't near what it was going to cost to get hat across the country so i offered seller that i'd cover half shipping over what was originally charged if she'd pretty please not bend or crush hat and ship in a stiff box. though she sent the thing retail ground (CO to MA) i think she followed my directions .. we'll see i guess :|
hat's pretty cool right? 50s or early 60s i think? i can't find this model in a catalog yet. i'll post more on "western straw" thread assuming it arrives as a hat and not hay. hope everyone's well out there!
