Great catch, Max and interesting as well to see if it's American or French. I actually like the green colour of the liner; very striking. Could even have been coloured with arsenicI just bought this mystery hat after resisting temptation for a full 24 hours! I am proud of myself; I'm improving. I even managed to feign disinterest and brought the seller down on the price.
Anyway, it comes in a Mossant box, but the logo isn't Mossant. Pretty sure it's French, because although the logo is an American Eagle holding an American flag, it says "Derniere Crèation Paris"
And who could resist that sweatband? I had never seen one like that one.

Yeah, I ask for measurements pretty much the same way, when the seller doesn’t list the size or have pics of the tag.even though Ignacio can resize my hats on the cheap, if they're not of historical value, I mean, I always ask for interior measurements.
Here is my stock question:
Measuring the interior perimeter is difficult, and often not precise.
Could you please measure the front-to-back and side-to-side of the hat opening precisely? Just an eighth of an inch makes a difference in the size.
I also send them this table that Brent sent me:Here is how I ask for measurements: "Hi, could you help me with the hat size? To find out, measure in two places. Measure straight across the hole where your head goes in from ear to ear. Then measure again from where the forehead sits to where the back of the head would be. We can use these two measurements to get the circumference which will then give is the hat size."
What's happening with shipping these days??? $57...$62...all within the U.S. Good grief!
I can mail a package that is 12X12X12 across country for $16. The same weight in a box that measures 13X12X12 is $48. Just one inch more! Makes no sense to me, but there it is.
The colour is great. Curious to see what Ignacio is going to make of it. I suspect this adaptation won't get as much boo hiss as othersLoro Piana. Yes, I know it is a woman's hat, but it's 100 percent Canadian Beaver, and Ignacio can make me a hat with this felt for sure. I reallly like the color saturation. Besides, it is new with tags, retail $1200 (clearly not worth that much), but the seller accepted my $250 offer.
Worse comes to worse, I can gift it to Ana.

Because it has been forged way too many times in human history...I don’t think that a signed permission slip from the Almighty would cut it with some folks here.

To be fair: Max has a lot of redeeming qualities sitting in closets and vaults. The crimes committed in the name of God....
Sorry, Max. Looks like you and Ignacio will be stuck in purgatory until the hat gods are appeased.
Well, it WAS new once upon a time....it is just that the "defects" caught up with it over time!!!Here is one listed as "new with defects". So, technically, anything used in any condition would qualify, eh?
