I forgot to set my alarm clock for the Nutria, darn it. Got busy with a patient and forgot all about it until it was too late. [emoji34]
Glad it was you who stol... er bought it, though. [emoji5]

Maybe you did set it, but I managed to bribe the help to turn off the alarm. ;) You'll just have to console yourself with that one hundred you're chasing. I'm definitely not in the running for that one.

Well, speaking of that VS dualist, I think I just stumbled on an excellent vintage donor candidate.

I mean, it's practically just a crown to begin with, right? I'm usually in the preservation camp, I swear!

Yup, that'll work. What felt and ribbon colors are we talkin?

Well, I can't decide between tone on tone or contrasting color for the brim. My first inclination is to go with black, but then I keep thinking about how the novelty can be both material and color contrast like the original styles. So I've also been thinking about something like silverbelly for the brim with maybe a cream ribbon? I've been very enamored with the early fray ribbon Stetsons lately. But I also have been looking for a pugaree fabric that is just the right amount of ostentatious. My next hat with Bob is this whole thing with Japanese textiles and is going to be on the opposite end of the spectrum from vintage so this might end up something of a companion.

The hot streak continues! Following up my previous post above with one more win this afternoon:
IMG_0877.jpg IMG_0878.jpg

Cold blast is coming later this week, so going for something that offers a little more protection. A 100% mink fur envoy cap courtesy of our friends north of the border. Got it for an absolute steal. Tag is dated manufactured in 1987, but the model number still matches current production today. Retail...35x what I paid. As an aside, listed as "vintage" which makes me feel very uncomfortable since I was manufactured in 1982.

So, what a week! Sandwiched between these eBay wins was a TFL purchase of a Lee homburg courtesy of @deadlyhandsome. This should get my hat count into double digits. I think a moratorium is probably in order. In related news, I'll probably be sleeping on the couch later this week.

And that's the rest of the story.

^^^I once was at a Wyoming dude ranch. On our way back from an all day horse ride in the mountains we came down to the valley and road leading back to the ranch. I wanted to gallop the horse for fun and off it went...so did a bunch of others with it. They wouldn’t stop until they were at the barn (home). The ranch guides (think wives) were highly emotional about it all. I thought what’s the big deal. They said (among other things) once a horse starts galloping home you can’t stop it.
Buying hats can be alot like those horses. It’s just hard to find the barn sometimes.
Just a story. Lol
