I didn't really go after the Stetsonian all the way because I already have one, and this one went too high in price as well.I was going to pull the trigger, but it shot out of my budget. Congrats!

Ditto that.Good luck with that.
Doc: you ought to go for the wood stretcher. Maybe he will throw it in for all the hats you’re buying from him!! HaThird ebay win. I have been curious about Stetson's Excellent Quality hats since both Brent and Anthony recommended them.
Too large for me, but they go for $300 new, and I think Ignacio can alter it to my size.

Way, way nice catches!!
Damn Doc!!!I asked Aaron about the stretcher from the beginning, and he told me where he bought it.
Ignacio says they don't work anyway. Says they only deform the shape of the hat. I was with him when he reblocked five of my hats. I was there for several hours. He looked at each hat, and pulled out a different block for each one. He says he can tell at a glance which hat is for which block. He helped his father at the shop since he was six years old.
He also told me I need a wood sweatband block made to the shape of my head, and to put the hat I wore that day on it before I go to bed, or the leather in the sweat will change shape as it cools. He gave me a paper cutout he copied from the perimeter of his conformateur, and told me to take it to a carpenter.
Then I remembered I made a plaster cast of my head some months ago in my dental lab. I will have to polish it, varnish it, and use that instead of the wood sweatband block. What could be better than a block that has the exact shape of my head?

l love this one Max. It is good for it to stay in the family.I got it! Justin's Leisure Light! I wanted it since he posted it, but didn't think he would let it go.

To me, that's a dream hat. I know it won't make me look as young as Justin, but still.

I have been wanting a block for a while now. I might just buy one of those plastic ones online to get by.I need to find a 52 block with a 23-5/8" measurement and then a smaller one, too @ 23" - 23.125" or thereabouts.
Museum Piece Max. It will be interesting hearing about it when you can post some detailed images. I'm highly interested in it's history.Just won this one on eBay. Both Daniele and Bowen advised me to buy it. If Daniele, of all people, says a Borsalino is excellent, I take it as gospel. Bowen, too.
Happy, happy, happy. [emoji5]

Anthony sold me a 7 1/4 brother to this hat. I love it, for a modern Stetson, it has wonderful felt. Ant said he picked through a huge pile to get the best one.Third ebay win. I have been curious about Stetson's Excellent Quality hats since both Brent and Anthony recommended them.

Yes, I remembered you saying that, Mike. That was one of the reasons I went for it. That, and I remembered they cost 300 dollars new, but they discontinued them. [emoji57]l love this one Max. It is good for it to stay in the family.

Since you have the profile of your head, it would be easy to have some blocks made. A quick and easy hat block can be made from the pink insulating foam boards they use in house building. I have made several and keep them in troublesome hats that tend to the small side. I have the form of my head that Mike Miller made a couple of years ago, invaluable.I asked Aaron about the stretcher from the beginning, and he told me where he bought it.

I say why not just go the extra mile and create a bust of yourself. Then you'd be able to choose two hats for yourself each day! Well, two hats at a time anyway...I asked Aaron about the stretcher from the beginning, and he told me where he bought it.

That is a fantastic piece, Max. I was hoping it would go to a lounger. Good get. That's a very early one and it looks to be in good condition.Just won this one on eBay. Both Daniele and Bowen advised me to buy it. If Daniele, of all people, says a Borsalino is excellent, I take it as gospel. Bowen, too.

You'll like that one. Knox made good looking and high quality hats and the twenty is in their higher range.Won this one too. I didn't expect to, but I did.

What, does the quality vary, Brent? You beat me on the Excellent Strat! It’s a size too small, but I figured if the price stayed low I’d see about re-blocking it. The good news is you can always get your money back if you don’t like it; larger size hats are easy to move.
I’m glad you can see a Excellent for yourself and I hope it’s one of the better ones.

In my experience, quality is always variable with modern hats. I lean toward custom or vintage hats almost exclusively. What, does the quality vary, Brent?

Oh, wow. I didn't know that. Then again, I got it for less than half of what they used to cost new. May be worth the gamble.I don’t know why, but they do seem to vary. In my personal experience, Akubra is the biggest offender, but I’ve seen it with Stetson too. I almost returned a Silverbelly Premier Stratoliner because the felt was so poor compared to my other Stratoliners of the same supposed quality. Even Borsalino suffered from it with their later hats.
Then again, I’ve also been disappointed in the felt quality of a custom 100% beaver (Winchester) hat I received from a venerated hatter. I look at is as all part of the game; complete with a touch of mystery.
