Damn, that is a score for that low price. I thought I might be competing with you on the Dark Moss green Stetson. I put in a best offer and did not hear back after about 24 hours. Scanning my Watch List I saw the hat as no longer available and cursed for not hitting the BIN. Then a few moments later got notification that my offer was accepted. I am now the owner of a dark moss Stetson . Looks like a nice hat in great condition. No steal but I think a fair price.Dang (*&^*&%%*((&(*^(&^!!!!! ebay bid window timed me out in about 3 or 4 minutes yesterday. I can't believe it. Saw this No. 1 Quality with 1 single bid for $50.... entered about 3 times that amount, 15 seconds to go, hit the bid now button..., then hit the confirm bid button and it timed me out! Only thing I had time to do was hit the bid button again real fast, so someone got a pretty nice hat for $51.
Dang!
The only salve to my wounds would be if a FL member got it!

It wasn't me. 3" brim and no shipping to Europe. The only salve to my wounds would be if a FL member got it!
I would say you got a deal. Real leather sweat, nice weave (Milan?) and seems to be in good overall shape. The Hatted Professor dates the "Dobbs" logo on the sweat without the slant at late 50s/early 60s. Can't wait to see detail shots, under the sweat. Nice 50 year old hat I would say.I just bought this for $30. It's listed as 60s straw. Not much information in the listing.
Does anybody have any idea for date range?
What style would you call this?

Saw that auction. Looks like a lovely vintage piece. I decided not to bid because of the uncertainty about the size. I'm interesested to see what it turns out to be.looking forward to handling this one. Seller seemed unsure of size after sending multiple messages, but it'll either fit or it won't. Either way, it's a neat piece from a time once passed

I do love my Cav stingy like this one. Great catch. Sinatra's brand! Detail shots would be nice, sweat, liner etc.BIN'ed this early to mid-sixties Cavanagh on eBay last week. $20, plus $11 shipping. It's mid-brown, with a creamy gold liner and a black ribbon. The felt isn't as soft as my 50s Cavanagh, but I think that's because this hat appears never to have been worn or handled.
I don't know who bought this hat, or why he put it away, but I'm grateful that I got it. I have a couple of Dobbs and Optimos too, but the Eisenhower-era Cavanaghs are my favorite hats. No fashion for fashion's sake. Just a conservative, high-quality hat. I suppose this could go in "new hats," "what hat are you wearing," and "hats fresh from surviving the elements." too.
Nice one Bill, my size too!Hat arrived yesterday. A little steam does wonders.

Found a few tags under the sweatband. One fell out so I took a pic on it on the counter. I used clear tape and put it on the inside of the sweatband.

Any idea why the center "bump" on the front of the crown? Kinda like a Optima but only on the front. Not across the top or on the back.
