I made an offer for $38.30 and it was accepted. So I'm in for $50 total including shipping. The liner/logo looks to me to be 1940s.

The sweatband says "open road" but it's obviously not. Or maybe it was converted from an "open road?" Or the sweatband has been replaced? The brim is 2".

Can anybody shed any light on this?

Interesting. It must have had an interesting life. Wonder what tags are under that sweat?

I don't know but I just woke up realizing I'd fallen asleep trying to read the entire listing. Early 1955 production. January-February, I guess.
Haha, I rather liked the part at the end where he compared his hat to another on eBay. "If that resellers hat is worth 600 than than this hat has a retail value of $2000, probably." I got a kick out of the probably and constant references to Beaver. Lol

The hat arrived today. No tags behind the sweat nor under the liner. At least none I could see. I think this was an Open Road that someone cutdown/converted. The brim is 2" and has an underwelt. Liner is swen in. The liner has the stars in the shield. I think that dates it to the 40s?

It is actually in better shape than I thought it would be? I was mainly concerned about the sweatband. But it seems to be fine. Not dry, no hard spots, and not tears. It will need to be cleaned and re-shaped.

Last wk I bought a vintage 3XOR with original box on a BIN. The next day the seller generated a shipping label so I was expecting it to be here when I returned after being gone for a few days.

Instead what I got when I returned home was an email apology with two new pictures attached. It seems the sellers double boxed & prepared the OR for shipment, planning to drop it at USPS the following day. When they returned home from dinner their new young pup had chewed thru both boxes & destroyed the OR! Apparently my pkg was not the only box destroyed as I can see part of a shipping label that is not mine.
