1907-1920s Feiges Beaver hat.

Quoting the seller, "THE FEIGES FAMILY HAD A CHAIN OF HAT STORES IN CHICAGO DATING 1907 THROUGH THE EARLY 20S"

Any ideas on how to remove those white spots on the sweatband when the hat arrives?

Good catch, Bill.

A number of these marks continued in use up to the second world war, though I'm not sure any survived in their original form afterwards.

Good catch (pun intended)! It's a '40s Dobbs Rainbow. The '43 ads tout the triple stitching on the brim, so it probably dates from around then. Later models have different and single stitching around the brim.

I just purchased this Stetson Nutria Quality Whippet-like fedora (auction photos) from "The Outdoor Team" at a very reasonable price (I know, but it really was) based on an offer. The listed price was $199.00, but my offer for significantly less was accepted. I am quite pleased despite the fact that I will have some sewing to do when it arrives.
