Yep. Soon it will be nothing but made in Pakistan knock off garbage lambskins ($99.00-$104.99). They have already infiltrated every single one of my saved searches.

I used to have a Leather Police Jacket search saved until it got completely eaten up by such garbage. I had to remove the search as it really no longer did anything at all.

Ok was just about to call eBay CS and I get a email stating the case has been reviewed and the buyer needs to return the jacket at my expense case on hold until the 6th of this month , I have 4 days to supply postage funds or a prepaid label or the buyers $ is refunded in the full amount and he gets to keep the jacket.

Not happy, I ring CS straight away ( with a good attitude) get passed around to several people until I finally talk to someone who has access to my case files. I should add the CS people sounded like call centre drones reading from a script( for all I know Telstra and eBay share the same call centre)

After I go through the details again they agree it sounds like the buyer damaged the jacket while in their possession.

For eBay to assist me further I have to accept the return at my expense mind you then ring/contact them back to confirm the damage (after I receive the jacket back) before they can help me further at the same time I’m not to issue any refund to the buyer, yeah right that all sounds legit, from my experience with returns once the return arrives it’s a automatic refund.

Here’s the kicker I point out as I’m in Australia and the buyers in the UK I can’t issue a prepaid postage label through the eBay system as it doesn’t work for overseas returns , the CS rep says to just send PayPal $$ after I come to agreement via negotiation with the buyer over cost of return postage ( WTF??? I don’t agree to his postage costs within 4 days he keeps the jacket and gets a full refund - keep in mind I’ve reported this guy as a scammer ) and keep copies of the amounts involved as I get refunded somehow and at some point if the case is in my favour at the final review, I then ask what’s to stop the buyer keeping my postage money and the jacket as this PayPal payment is made outside of eBay?

At this point I ask as the buyer didn’t want a full refund/return only a partial refund to fix the jacket if I agreed to this is the case closed and he can’t come back and ask for more money, they say yes.

I said I’ll pay the partial refund if this makes it all go away - If I don’t do this I can see myself being screwed big time, time to cut my losses.

This is not a good outcome. There is no reason for you to be forced to accept this return in order to appeal your case, and certainly not at your expense for return international shipping that ebay is not set up to handle.

If this happened to me, I would refuse to refund any money and return, and tell eBay you'll be closing your account. I would take my PayPal balance to zero and close the account, and if they wouldn't allow the account to be closed, I would abandon it with a negative balance if I had to.

I have never felt comfortable selling internationally with ebay, and I always turn off the option. It's not worth it. I've bought from international sellers and it's almost always been fine, but I don't trust them for purchases.

I'm sorry it's come to this for you.

The worst of them use photos of known makers, Vanson seems to be a favorite. I used to report that nonsense but it’s pointless, like going after marching army ants with a rolled up magazine.
Yup. They’ve got them all. Aero and Thedi too. I used to message them with threats and report them to eBay but it’s like hydra. Cut off one head and two more appear in its place. I just wonder who on earth is buying that garbage. And why!??

I agree. Too many available options for both eBay and PP.

It seems to me we could put them out of business quickly by buying from them, then opening buyer protection cases for receiving an item "not as described", eg counterfeit goods and stolen images used to represent them.

The only downside for this is it puts a significant amount of money at risk...

That one time i had a crazy seller harass me via messages and phone calls, telling me he would come down and sort me out at my house, eBay did NOTHING.
It lasted for a couple weeks, i would get daily threatening phone calls and messages, that i forwarded on to eBay, i called around 5 times and every time they told me "action had been taken" but refused to tell me what "action" (it didn't make him stop).
He googled my name, figured out i was a musician and threatened to attack my band.
After i blocked him on eBay and on my phone he then proceeded to add cryptic threats to the listing of the Vanson jackets he had for sale, knowing i browsed Vanson jackets online and would see them... The guy was a real psycho!

Ebay had written proof all this happened and did NOTHING, the guy is still an active seller on eBay, he still gets negative feedbacks on a regular basis, ebay cares more about the money he earns them than about the fact he is an absolute mentalist!

It's really disapointing to see Ebay Come up With such a dumbwitted response to your claim. That they can both be dumb and unpractical is almost unfathomable.

I can't remember. Did you utilize Ebay's global shipping program? Is that offered to you? If no, I wonder how this would have played out differently, if at all, if you'd used it. Or if it isn't offered to you, for us USA people, I wonder if it offers any protection.

I've only used it once. It was for a pair of very heavy logging boots shipped from the USA to Canada. I believe it cut my shipping by nearly half, which is why I used it, but I also remember it feeling like I was given some protection, or assurance, that the buyer wasn't going to give me problems.

This is what I always thought the purpose of the program was, or at least some aspect of it. If not, even more BS from eBay. In the end though, I get the sense that eBay is just not looking at the facts of individual cases, simply applying broad stroke decisions. Shame on them. It doesn’t work otherwise.

Thuggee your bad experience has only reinforced my model of only selling on eBay within the US. I’ve been pressured on a couple of occasions to make an exception but said no. Difficult enough dealing with an issue like this without bringing international concerns into the mix.

What a crock of shit. Incredibly disappointing from eBay. I don’t know the finer points of how such a thing might work, but I’d definitely be tempted to zero my balance and abandon the account. eBay deserve to get sued for shit as awful as this.

I searched the entire thread and didn't see any mention of the program. I hope they see this and let us know if it was used and if it is available to sellers outside the USA. I would assume not.

I’d be tempted to just close my paypal and eBay accounts tbh.

And I’m really sorry to hear of this trouble @Thuggee , I can’t belie any rational person could come to the decision they have ....

If I was going to be out of pocket the full amount or this bullshit return forced on me that’s exactly what I was going to do abandon/close both my PayPal and eBay accounts.

$100 out of pocket I can live with vs abandoning my accounts that I’ve had close for 18 years and use regularly.

I’ll continue to use eBay as a seller I just won’t be selling overseas anymore.
