I searched the entire thread and didn't see any mention of the program. I hope they see this and let us know if it was used and if it is available to sellers outside the USA. I would assume not.

The jacket was sent EMS fully insured tracked with signature.

The buyer received the jacket, let me know via positive feedback and eBay messaging it arrived in good order & as described.

He then proceeded to wear it for 23 days broke the zipper then lodged a claim via eBay saying it arrived damaged - the global shipping program I doubt would assist in this situation.

Got it. Thanks. They probably don't even mention it to users outside of the USA. You probably don't even see that in listings. It's a special program where Ebay becomes the shipping agent (not sure if that is the correct term). For instance, I sold some boots to a person outside of the USA. I shipped the boots to an Ebay center that is in the USA instead of directly to the buyer. Ebay then shipped the boots to the buyer.

I feel like eBay is more interested in an Amazon style operating model. Private sellers of second hand stuff aren’t their priority.

My brother-in-law who sells regularly on eBay would agree with your there, their business model has changed they don’t want private sellers anymore it’s all about large volume sellers selling rubbish out of China now

So the questions becomes, where do we go now to sell if the item isn't bought from the forums here?

Grailed? Any other decent options?

I think eBays still the best place to sell, do any of these other places attract as many people as eBay?

For me personally I’m now of the opinion eBay offer zero seller protection against someone who wants to scam you.

If your doing business on eBay as a seller you need to assume most buyers will be ok and do the right thing and that’s been my experience.

The more sales you do especially high value items the more likely you are to be the victim of a scam, I’ve been selling on eBay for close to 18 years never had any issues until I started selling things of any real value.

Yes indeed. Global shipping is often the default mailing ex-UK this last fair while.

What I did notice was post cost UK to Australia increased DRAMATICALLY !

And you no longer had the ability to "negotiate" post type with the seller.

That and the ebay "automatic" 10% GST ( ON USED GOODS!) meant I no longer buy jackets out of the UK

The eBay Global Shipping program is only available to sellers in the USA currently.

Anything shipping to Canada get hammered with that bullshit global shipping program. Import fees are inflated greatly and sometimes your item gets repacked in smaller packaging so they can save on shipping.

Its a scam run by ebay since ebay makes cash on these inflated rates and forces you to play by their rules.

Once the case/transaction is locked according to eBay I’ll gladly publish this buyers full name and user ID as a warning to anyone else who may encounter him, heck I’ll even publish his business name he spammed me with , this ball sack even sent me photos of a Ferrari he supposedly owns for who knows what reason, he’s a real turd you want to avoid if you do business on eBay

I think I know this guy. He tried to buy my ELMC G-1 when it was up on eBay. He sent me s picture with his phone number on it to deal outside eBay and talked about his Ferrari. Then he didn’t show up and somebody else bought it.
Sorry to hear this story.

May I suggest you private message Thuggee with the details - eBay might change their opinion of the buyers honesty.

Are you Canadian? Good to hear about the receiver's experience. Like I said earlier, it saved me a bunch of shipping money, which I thought was passed onto the buyer. I know my buyer was only charged what ebay charged me, and that was less than $20 for a large 8LB box. But if they were then hit with more fees and BS that a seller wouldn't know about unless they were told, that affects my opinion of the entire thing.

Sounds like the same guy as it was a ELMC G1 he bought from me I’ll post his full details to warn others once the case is closed, I now need to contact eBay again today they told me I would be given the option to refund him for the zipper repair ( took 24hrs though) to have things closed off, nothing but silence from eBay, when I go into my account there’s no option to do this??

As a buyer if I see something shipped via the global shipping program I avoid it like the plague, it may be cheap for the seller to send , the buyer gets hit with huge fees and charges something like 10-30% of the items value or there abouts plus shipping on top.

Hmmm. Good to know though. Unfortunate.

You guys are getting charged the same shipping fee, right? Or are you getting hit with the seller's shipping fee + another shipping fee from ebay to you? In my example, I paid like $19 to ship to ebay's shipping center. Are you getting hit with $19 + ebay to you? If so, USA sellers never see that 2nd charge, so we would have no idea its even happening to the buyer.

No idea

I just looked at a jacket I’ve been admiring on eBay US as a example

Jacket is AU$2000 BIN
Global shipping charges AU$500
Postage AU$80 from the US to Australia
Total I’m being asked to pay AU$2580

I’m wondering if the seller even knows the buyers are being gouged like this? Needless to say I’m not buying the jacket through this seller, as this is robbery.

Wow. $500? Are they shipping it in a concrete vault? I guess I can understand the 2nd shipping charge, but we US sellers should be told about it. Maybe it is. I haven't shipped since 2018. I wasn't aware at the time. I can tell you that for sure.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a lousy deal for everyone. Just so I don't have to fill out a custom's form?

Read the bit about charges that aren’t even valid meaning they just pocket the money and shouldn’t be charging any extra fees , bunch of thieves how do companies like this keep trading

Thanks for posting your experience Thuggee. This thread has been the last nail in the EBay coffin for me, after my last bad experience as seller, it has completely put me off selling anything else there.
Looks like I’ll be keeping my entire jacket collection, if I try to sell anything else it will be in the classifieds here, otherwise it will be the end of the road for me in this hobby.
