Does your partner ever point out your style idiosynchracies?

I was talking to the missus back home and she asked what I was wearing out to the pub. I said khakis and a cardigan. At that point she mentioned that even though we'd been dating for months, she has only seen me wear jeans like 3 times tops and said that my old khakis and cardigan remind her of her grandfather...

any of you commited or married folks have one of these situations

My guy likes me in dresses; says it shows off my pretty legs Sometimes he'll bitch and moan when we're at a concert or something, but I'm usually smart enough to wear jeans at those events. I find it most surprising that he likes my swimsuits, especially since they're not those itty-bitty skimpy things that most girls wear. I'd figure he'd want me to get into one of those since it shows more skin, but he says my swimsuits remind him of a Vargas girl. I'm all down for that. In the end, I dress how I want and if he truly loves me, he'll respect my individuality and style.

I'm in the exact opposite boat. My gf says I have a better eye than her for clothing so if she needs clothing she tells me to go pick stuff out for her.

This thread is funny - I get accused of dressing like Grandma by my husband all the time! When I'm just out and about, I'll wear whatever I want and just take the occasional grumble. But if we're going out on a date, I'll leave off wearing the more hated stuff in favor of making hubby happy and getting love Sometimes he'll surprise me though and really like something I expected him to hate. And by and large, he lurves the skirts and dresses. I think they make you men folk think dirty thoughts

My GF digs my style - and at formal events she too wears vintage inspired clothes.

The only thing she has ever complained about was when I had my long hair cut down - but she has gotten used to that by now.

Oh yes, and then she makes fun of the fact that my jevel-box is bigger than hers

my husband never says anything about what i wear, even when i ask him. however i have got him to wear more then black tee shirts. before the only time i had ever seen him not in a black tee shirt was at our wedding, and his sisters' funerals.

She really likes my style and appreciates it, but since she's a visual artist, working with ceramics a lot, she is usually in work clothes (i.e. jeans and a tank top) so I'm usually better dressed out of the two of us. She doesn't mind, though- she's just naturally pretty.

Ah, the perennial question of whether a partner will appreciate one's chocie of clothes - yet another issue I neatly sidestep by remaning single.

I did have a girlfriend years ago who was extremely ticked off that I went to the bother of learning how to tie and wearing a proper bow tie to her grduation ball. It seems she would have preferred to nix that (on top of the fedora she had already vetoed) in favour of the same pre-tied confections everyone else was wearing. [huh]

My wife will sometimes roll her eyes when I'm fretting over which tie to wear with a suit. She also thinks the fedoras are a little odd...but it beats the alternative of what most men here wear. She knows that.

Comment? He's more clever than that. Once, he "forgot" some of my most comfortable "around the house"dresses when he was packing my things when we went home from vaccation. They might not have been the hight of style, I must admit. And he promised to replace them, and came home with an evening gown, so I really can't complain. Allthough the gown is not that practical for vegging on the couch.

I guess I am lucky. Before my husband and I met I was more dark? The Cure, but not goth!!! I had vintage clothing and liked it but did not wear it. He always dug the stuff but the ladies he was with before were normal mom types. When we came together we both came into our own. He loves it all. He even digs hat and glove outfits. He encourages me and I do the same for him. We both have become very passionate retrophiles. I don;t think the transformation could have happened without the confidence he has instilled in me.
