Denim Jackets - New or Vintage

aked and Famous arrived. It’s going back. Far too short, no sleeve lining and it feels cheap. Levi’s is the undisputed king of the Sherpa trucker. At least that’s my feeling until I get my hands on the IH model.

That makes no sense. Glad I know now. I was getting close on the N&F.

Anyone tried one of these Wrangler 124mjs from the Icon range? I much prefer the look of these to the Cowboy Collection jacket, but am a little wary they might have screwed up the proportions because I know they've added a little length and slimmed the sleeves slightly. Can't tell if they'e totally modernised/ruined it from the official photos as I can't even tell of Pretty Boy is wearing a low waist, given his shirt is hanging out and I know they're not the cowboy cut jeans (which is what I'll end up wearing any denim jacket I were to buy with).
I got my Deadstock 124 on ebay a few years ago. There is one on ebay now but that one is IMO quite pricey. I don't remember exactly how much I paid for mine but it is definitely less than a hundred US.

Hello!
Just received a Japanese Lee 101 Storm Rider.
I´ve been told that would be OK to wash it by hand in cold water with salt to prevent color lost in future washes. I know the less I wash it the better.
can anybody explain?
Thanks

Joan
I don't think the salt and/or vinegar works. Reason is indigo is not water soluble and adding salt to reduce water solubility isn't gonna help. Having said that, the dye used today is often not pure natural indigo, so it depends on the dye. Salt and/or vinegar may work on black jeans depending on the black dye.

Please let us know how the jacket changes once it is dry from this first soak. I am quite curious since I own the same jacket myself and I have yet to wash or soak it.

I measured before soak and after and there was actually SOME shrinkage:

Shoulders shrank 0.4 inch
Sleeves shrank 0.5 inch
P2P shrank 0.3 inch
Length shrank 0.5 inch

In the end, not much, but some.

a drying denim jacket is perfect opportunity to mould wear it, don't waste this rare occasion by leaving it standing on a table by itself like that and not being worn over old or dark tshirt until fully dry on you:eek:

I decided not to do that. Wearing it everyday does the same thing... but without the discomfort.

I would be fine with a little less length all around but I don’t think I could take any shoulder shrinkage. I like the idea you posted of wearing the jacket while it dries and perhaps doing some stretches at the same time.

The slight shrinking in the shoulders and chest was temporary with my IH-101J. Wore it after it dried and the comfort came back. The shrinking in the sleeves and length remained... the jacket fits me perfectly now.

Anyone tried Jeans made of these soft "Jogg-Denim", actually? I bought a new Jeans, made of this, some hours ago. At the moment I can say, it works. Absolved maiden voyage, some minutes ago to supermarket and felt good.

Here’s an oddity. A denim grizzly by Levi’s.
