Dead Pitchmen in Advertising

I'm no longer famous but...

I like that. It goes along with the Yul Brynner thing. My whole family has signed donor cards and I wish everyone would. When I was in a nursing class the cadaver generously donated was an indispensable teaching tool. The last nursing class I took we had no such donation. I missed out on a lot. My best friend has a double lung transplant. The donor probably was not famous. I admire Jerry Orbach even more. Sorry you were creeped out, though. Cadavers and dead people do that sometimes.

I remember the first time I saw the revival of dead starts, it was the John Wayne beer ad. There was a part of me that was a bit creeped out, another part of me that was fascinated, ghoul that I am.

I imagine that someday, with the aid of computers, and the consent of relatives of the deceased (who may like the idea of making money eons after their movie star relative has bit the dust), they may even make movies using these imagines.

Don't you think Bogart made enough films that they could patch things together, create some computer images, and "revive" him to star in a new movie, maybe Son of Sam Spade or whatever?

I bet they could even do it with James Dean -- and he only made three major movies.

Oh, I do have massive amounts of respect for him for making the decision to donate, and all organ donors. I was more creeped out by the fact that they were using a celebrity to encourage people to donate, and it was bizarre to see it on a subway advertisement.

No doubt that many have benefited from the generosity of those who have authorized that their remains be used to help others. I just thought the manner of this particular tribute was somewhat eerie.

Yeah Panamag8or I like the old commercials with the original people. Nothing wrong with seeing the real Colonel Sanders footage spliced into a modern commercial. The old Coke commercials were good ones. Since the product is the same it is realtively timeless.

Therer was even a special with all the classic commercials on TV a couple years ago. Brought back memories.
