I now want them a lot!! I know many of you have Aris Allen shoes, what is the fit like? Do you buy your normal size?[/QUOTE]

flyfishark, those are all truly gorgeous shoes!! It does make me wonder... were women's feet generally narrower then?? Or is it just a question of what survives? It just seems like all vintage shoes are crazy narrow - it's a nightmare with my chubby little feet!

I just came across these Aris Allen ones, thanks to a tip from Maisie (thanks!).

I have these. They're great but run very small.

Yes and no... I find I need to try them to determine my "normal street size," but after that I can go by the sizing descriptions online. If you have a ballroom dance store nearby, see if they carry the Aris Allens so that you can double check sizing before you order. Good luck!

Just wanted to mention that I bought these and they're incredibly comfortable. Great arch support, too, which is great for a shoe that's so open. The only problem I have is that my narrow heel is, as usual, slipping out but that's going to be easy to fix with a heel pad. Thanks crwritt for posting them!
You're welcome. Glad you like them!

While perusing the mall, I happened upon Guess and bought these on an impulse.

I paid... Well, a lot. I'm going to remove the small white straps over the vamp, because they make them a pain to put on.

Guess has taken a vintage inspired angle in recent years, though not what you'd call modest. I have a few cardigans and (now) one pair of shoes from them. What are your opinions on the shoes, ladies?

Cute as a cupcake, but way too tall for me to walk in. Have fun wearing them!

C-Dot, what adorable shoes! I just love a chunky pin-uppy platform shoe, and the polka dots and ruffles are the sweetest.
The white strap kind of ruins the composition in my eyes, though, so I'm glad you're getting rid of it lol.
