Brown and white were actually more common than black and white up until the late fifties -- but either were worn with any kind of print. The socks would be the place to color-coordinate -- either a solid that picks up the color in the print, or something with stripes that echo the colors in the dress.

Really??? I had no idea either. For some reason I keep thinking I have to wear dress pants with my saddle shoes so they have been in the closet for a while. What else did they wear them with?

Keds Sizing?

I am about to purchase my first pair of Keds shoes online, but am really confused by the sizing. I am mostly a UK size 5.5, sometimes a 6, a 7.5 or 8 in US sizes, and a 38.5 or 39 in European sizes.
Do they run true to size, big or small? Should I order up or down?

Hey Drappa! I just got my first pair of Keds a few weeks ago. They run long and narrow. I usually wear a US 8.5 M, I needed an 8 W. I would say, if you have anything other than fairly narrow feet, order a half size down wide width. Love mine - they're so comfy!

What sort of shape are your feet? I have very wide feet.

Puzzicato I have wide feed and have 3 pairs of the remix wedge and have not problems but I found a pair of heels on ebay for cheaper and bought them in the same size as my wedge shoes and they are way too narrow. I think you would be ok with the wedge pair.

I have two pairs of the pleated toe 40's Wedge and they are my favorite dancing shoes.http://remixvintageshoes.com/pleatedtoesandal.html
The pair that I bought this winter on ebay were the Kates. Way too narrow for wide feet but I have not yet tried to have them stretched. http://remixvintageshoes.com/40shighheels.html
