Crown Height

I recently purchased a Stetson Chatham and even more recently it arrived.

The hat is more or less the right size but the crown is really a bit low. I can wear it but it doesn't feel quite right, as I have a rather long head. Is there anything that can be done to change the crown height while still keeping a similar looking bash (teardrop crown with pinches)?

Yes, simply steam the crown, push out the bash, re-steam, and bash to suit your taste. Most of the fedoras I used to own touched the top of my head, which is why I removed the liner in them, in addition to being a, literally, "cooler" hat wearing experience. Campaign hats are worn this way. I usually try to "rough-in" the crease with the hat on, provided the thing isn't scorching hot from the steam!
