10lb plusTRD. I believe it’s not HH as advertised but CXL steer, 5oz. Heaviest jacket I’ve ever had. Not stitched together to terribly well. Sloppy in spots. Super heavy black canvas pocket bags. Nylon quilt. The only bummer is the previous owner rubbed the whole thing down with sand paper, I’m sure in an attempt to soften it. So I have to try and polish those scratches out best I can.

I'm waiting for two jackets arriving from the US for five months now. I don't expect to ever see them anymore, TBH. Best not buy or sell anything across the ocean.

It would appear that USA is the only country rn acting weird when it comes to mail. iPad case I ordered from China arrived a few days ago but nothing from US moved at all. Now that they're threatening everyone with a second wave, I don't expect to see my jackets for another two years.

Yeah I can only imagine a stupidgazm caused that. I’ve spent the day working it over with some Urad, especially on the back and it’s coming along. Taking sand paper to CXL...I can’t imagine the self loathing that would induce. They’ll never totally vanish but hopefully they’ll be minimized enough to deal with. I don’t know that’ll I’ll ever get a crack at another 5oz CXL jacket.

@ton312, looks like you got some of the industrial strength leather that I've seen from TRD. Looks like it fits you well. I think their stuff is hit or miss. I had a motorcycle vest from them that was very underwhelming. I think @Guppy had a few good experiences with them. Roll the dice with TRD.

100% agree. The hide is some of, if not the most insanely, laughably heavy stuff I’ve handled. The pockets are lined with heavy canvas and the quilted nylon is on par with any other. You were right about the construction though. It’s sloppy (see pic). Works for what it is though. It’s an M/C jacket for sure. I’m going to have Dena remove the epaulettes (which are poorly set), the belt and trim the sleeves. Purely b/c (in spite of the sanded bits) the hide is just ridiculously good. It’ll make a good beat it to shit winter jacket.

As far as the fit goes, it’s pretty good. This is tagged a 46” but feels closer to a 44”. Once the sleeves are trimmed and the other issues are addressed it’ll lose its 80’s cut flavor.

LOL. I've never really been a stitch guy. I never REALLY looked over any of my jackets for stitching quality, but I have to laugh at the TRD's. Gotta luv em. No offense, but I can't stop laughing at your example.

From the pics, it looks like your real deal can handle anything the windy city winter can throw at it. Hopefully Dena doesn't charge you extra for all the bent up needles she will have after trying to sew that hide.

No offense taken. I LOL’d at that shoulder myself. Ran out of thread and then just “close enough’d” it and kept going. From their site it looks like they are better at saddle bags and seat covers.

But if you think about it...that seam is really strong along that 1”. LOL. I mean the belt sander couldn’t even bust it!

it is better to have it restitched on the wonky part and have the old holes filled in with filler. at that level of miss lol... it's like those scene on movies where 2 cars dare to ram at each other head on and the bad guy chickened at the last moment.

One could say I ruined it but one could also say that it was ruined when the sandpaper massage was given to it. I’m on the fence on having the sleeves trimmed. Putting money into this beater seems dumb, but these are text book stove pipes. Overall I give TRD an A for material and a D for construction.

They look pretty good to me. Certainly wouldn't put money into a jacket you treated with a knife. Would you shorten the length of the sleeves or reduce circumference?

Yeah it’s nice enough. The hide is spectacular but the build is pretty sub standard. I’d put it below both Schott and Vanson in terms of construction but above both with regard to hide (at least this example). The epaulettes were crazy off and the belt totally useless.
