I am happy to hear you got somewhere with Cal Leather. I got through to someone in the store but Gren never returned my call or answered my two emails. I've lost interest after my recent Star Gove scores.
Jon,
It wasn’t me, it was @Keith Garrison who had the Star Glove Relined by Cal recently. I had the same experience you did a few years ago when I tried to reach out to them.

Picked it up a while ago, and I think it might be a Star Glove, although never have I seen one with kind of collar shape before. Also the cuff configuration seems rare.
I’ve sent an email to Gwen to see if they could help confirm, but still any kinds of inputs are welcome.
Especially about the main zipper, I think the Talon remains are replacements of the original, if that’s the case, should the original one be a Conmar or a spring-loaded Crown?

The recent post of a Star Glove in the finds and deal tread got me thinking about the Star Gloves I owned and still own.
Here is what I notice about SG, they were custom-made just like the latter Cal Leather jackets. The proportions and zips for instance will change from jacket to jacket. What is consistent is heavy horsehide with a distinct good leather smell. The only failure I had was the tape failure at the male zip insection pin on my first well-worn police SG. I found a replacement crown cheap but sold the jacket due to damaged leather at the shoulders. I had and still have a cross zip Star Gove at the time in near-mint condition.
Star Gloves have large colors compared to more recent Cals

@jonbuilder , could you post a close up of the paper clip Talon off your 1940s Star Glove? I am trying to date a no-name jacket I just bought which has a very similar #10 paper clip talon. BTW - your collection of near mint Star Gloves is museum-quality.

Jon, thanks for the detailed pictures. I can see that the Talon box and the slider and the same as my zipper, but the teeth, as @photo2u correctly pointed out in another thread, are from 1940s on your zipper, and likely 1950s on mine. It is amazing to have so many experts in one place. The snap cuff looks identical to the one on my jacket, so it may be a carryover into the 50s, at which point they were replaced with zippers.
