The jacket has arrived. it's an unusual police jacket and certainly not a cal now i have it in my hands.
I'll share it elsewhere, as this a Cal thread.

Another Cal arrival today!!

I'm blown away with this jacket its in mint condition, 50's Cal Red Label. Big thanks to @JMax for spotting it. The seller found it in a thrift store in california, same situation as the Star Glove jacket, both found in thrift stores and in amazing condition. Maybe California is just too hot for these type of jackets and they were just never worn on a daily basis.

This Red label Cal is in such mint condition the collar hasn't even been worn into shape, the fur collar has kept the collar flat out. All original zippers are all intact, it feels like it was made yesterday. Blows my mind that something this old has avoided the natural elements and wear and tear. Someones had this in their wardrobe for a very long time.

it has the same conmar zipper that james dean had on his Cal.

Really incredible stuff. What decade would you say this Cal is from? I can't believe how short they made them then. What is the back length?

It’s boarder line short for me, I wouldn’t wear anything shorter. Also would help if I pulled my jeans up too :)
I'm curious to know if this jacket has a size tag or handwritten size? Also, what is the waist measurement?

I've got a late 1960s Cal that is marked 40L with a waist measuring 18".

@Gamma68 No size label, they were all tailor made back then, so they're all unique in sizing.

It's around 20" at the waist and around 22.5" ptp

Thanks to this thread, I bought this jacket when I saw it. I think it is a Cal, but I am wondering what others think. The back looks spot on like a six panel to me. Finally, the arms are long enough for me! The chest and shoulders are a little tight, but it also feels like it will ease up with a little wear. The zips are all Serval.

Love them. Those Conmar zippers are such a nice performers. I like them better than crown because they are stronger, more practical and less parts that will could fail.
