Bruno Mars' style fedora

Hey guys, first post! I know these types of questions are annoying, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I can get a fedora like this one Bruno Mars is wearing?

If you could ID the hat, that'd be cool, but it's not important. Do you guys think this type of hat would look ok on a taller person, with a thinner face?

That's a nice little narrow brimmed hat, you could probably find something like that online from one of the many hat stores, or a vintage one from Ebay. I would get a fur felt one if your budget allows. Those types of hats can look good one a tall thin person, but you may want to look for hat stores near you to see about trying on some different styles. If you are in New England, perhaps one of the larger cities up there would have some hat stores. I know there is one in the downtown Boston area, but I can't remember the name or exactly where it is. Good luck in your search.

Look for a hat called the Brixton Gain.....it's a quality stingy brim available in some nice muted colours

I saw him wearing that hat on TV the other day and it seemed like a really nice fur felt. My first thought was maybe an Optimo, but that was purely supposition on my part. A stingy brim like that is not uncommon, especially nowadays, as they seem to be all the rage.

And there are several shots in there that show a hat pin very similar to the above Brixton.

It all depends on the face and shape of head. best to try a bunch on and see for yourself. those stingy-brims are more numerous than their wider-brimmed brothers, so finding one shouldn't be very difficult . . . UNLESS! you have the dreaded "Bighead Syndrome." So, back to Bolt's Q, "What size are you?"

The Village Hat Shop has the Jaxon Rude Boy model fairly cheap. I've dealt with them several times and have never had a problem. The only bad thing is it's like a Ford model T... any color as long as it's black! Otherwise just troll ebay until something catches your fancy.

I'm working in NYC until the end of the month, so I was able to lookup a few places that had the hat in stock and try them on. Haha, luckily it seems I don't have "Big Head syndrome." My head size is 23 to 23 1/8 inches, so I think that puts me at a 7 3/8. I was able to try on a large (7 1/2) and medium (7 1/4), and neither seemed to fit right. The medium was too small, and the large didnt look right.

I wonder if in order to wear it tilted like Bruno, I need a larger size?

I've got a plan to buy one or two of their hats, dating from my visits there in the past few months. Same model in two colors. One of them would be copying the Stetson Clear Beaver light gray hat that was for sale on E Bay by Buhler recently. After fixating on that one, although losing the auction, I said to myself, by gosh I'll try to get it copied by someone else. Their model of hat the Treviso seemingly has same dimensions as the Stetson (3/4 brim), and so I'll shoot for that. In beaver, it will be pricey, but that's why I'm not buying it now. Anyway, I like the way they make their hats, and I take the style as an indigenous expression of New York style, which has its own cachet.

When you get them, make sure you post pics and your impressions. I have seen them online and like the look of several models. Would be curious as to how they compare to vintage or other modern hats.

I'm not very swift with electronic photos, but I spent an hour there between two visits, basically trying on the Treviso and staring at myself in the mirror in this angle and that, to see how compelling the hat was. Answer: Very compelling, to me. I have a fair number of vintage hats of similar brim size (3/4), and I would say I like the crown size and ribbon size better than vintage. Vintage usually has higher crowns, and the Treviso is more like a medium crown. Also the felt is brand new (made by a name brand Italian company, perhaps Guerro or something like that), so that's an advantage (to me at least) of the new hat. So the way they put it all together, including dimensions and ribbons for the overall look, was a winner. However, when I look at them on the website, it's hard to know they are special. You just can't know in many cases until you put them on. Anyway, a purchase for another day.
