1930s:

I've seen hats from the '30s with brims from about 1-7/8" to around 3" on fedoras, with flanges ranging from almost flat, to heavily curled.
I've seen dimensional brims (wider on the sides or wider on the sides and back), though most don't have this.
On a hat from this era, you will see hats with raw edges, bound brims, overwelts, underwelts, and cavanagh edges and stitched edges.
Some crowns are very tall and straight sided, others not so much.

It's really impossible to make a blanket statement of what a '30s hat looks like. The best way to date it is to look at the sweatband and liner.

30's hats - tall crown, variable width brim.
40's hats - tall crown, wide brim
50'-60's hats - progressively shortening crowns, stingy brim

At least, that's the way I understand it. I could be wrong. -M

Stingy brims were an anti-fashion fashion and still are today.

From now on I shall refuse to give out brim width dimensions....
