Tell me about Pumpkin Beer. It’s clearly another North American thing!

There are many variations, but basically exactly what it says - beer, usually ale, brewed with pumpkin for flavour!

Some add "Thanksgiving" spices typical to the season (cinnamon which is used in pumpkin pie is the most common), some just the pumpkin.

My favourites avoid the spices, but there are some with gentle spicing that are quite nice:

What you folks call "autumn" we Californians refer to as "fire season". There are currently 33 active wildfires throughout the state; at least 17 people have been killed in northern California alone, and experts are still trying to determine the numbers of properties damaged. Almost every year Malibu Canyon (which is in southern California) catches fire, and news crews always find at least one resident who says, "Oh, we love living here. We're going to rebuild." It must be nice to lose everything you own every year, and still have the means to replace it.

Interesting that it's described as Stout. Also Comstock is a well-known name. I like the look of it.

At 9% ABV you'd think it would be more of a sipper...but the pleasantly mild carbonation makes it really easy to drink. And you suddenly look over at your father in law, who drinks Budlight and realize he's had 12 beers to your six but it's you with the incredibly heavy eyelids after dinner...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Interestingly, we have a pumpkin stout out now (yes, it comes in a GLOW IN THE DARK CAN). It is good, but quite sweet and I can handle one every so often only!

My bad folks, it is a porter, not stout. This is the one, I have had it twice (and yes, the can glows...):
