Autumnal Thoughts........

Sunny weather goes, but cozyness comes, here in Germany. ;)
We might be able to say the same thing here in the southwest corner of the continental U.S.. Every day last week the high temps were in the 100°F-114°F range, perhaps the last heat wave of the year. Today, and for the next week, high temps are guesstimated to be in the low- to mid-70s with a slight chance of rain here and there. Compared to recent years the weather this summer was relatively mild, with only the occasional heat wave and fewer humid days; I'm hoping that means our winter will be equally as mild and that we'll return to "normal" amounts of rainfall during the winter and spring months.

As long as there is no snow. That stuff can go where the sun don't shine. [emoji14]

People seem to remember a light "dusting" here in 1963 or 1964, but the last time a measurable amount of snowfall was recorded here in Whittier (about 15 miles east of downtown Los Angeles) was in 1949, and before that was in 1932, so I don't think we're in any immediate danger of that happening. But who knows? Time will tell.

Yes, I can absolutely understand your point of view. I'm still a car-driver and I got of course a "fractious relationship" to snow-weather.

But in Germany, snow-weather seems to get less and less, every year.

That's certainly another aspect--driving in snow. I've been in mountainous areas where snow had fallen, but the roads had been cleared long before I arrived. I've seen snow on the ground, I've "played" in it, got in a few snowball fights. But I've only seen snow fall once, and it was so light that you could almost count the flakes which melted as soon as they touched the ground. So if we ever had any real snowfall here I'd be almost completely clueless about how to drive in it, and I don't know the first thing about how to put snow chains on a tire.

Today was a nearly perfect Halloween. I love when it's a chilly 40s, with colorful trees, a slight breeze, and sunshine. We've had all of that except the sunshine today. The kids don't seem to mind, though. We've had more trick or treaters than usual this year.

Pretty gorgeous weather here - high 50s. No snow in the forecast for Thanksgiving, thank goodness, as I've got a five hour drive ahead of me on Wednesday.

PF Flyers! Nice!

The local weather guesstimaters are saying the high temps for Wednesday and Thursday will be in the mid- to upper-90s (°F), so I guess birds won't be the only things getting cooked on Thanksgiving in this part of California. o_O

Thanks.
I was in Temecula Valley in June.
Got spoiled by the scenery, cool temperatures and no skeeters!

I took a morning-walkaround, minutes ago and it was very nice. The sun partly shined between the high trees, giving a little romantic and I played
in my mind, the whole time.
Maybe, it was a little to melancholic, but it matched with the atmosphere. :)
