I don't recognize this URL and I don't click on things like that because of virus threats - especially (and no offense meant) from newbies since we have had problems with that sort of thing. If yours is a serious question, could you save the image and attach it here or take a screenshot and attach it? Again, no offense, but it pays to be careful with things like this.
Absolutely, no offense taken. I got the link from an older post here on the lounge, but better play safe anyway. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for understanding and taking the extra step!

I am actually familiar with this photo and am 99.99% sure that this is an Akubra Campdraft.

Unfortunately, I don't believe the brown version is available any longer (I don't remember the official name of the color, though it's not 'brown').

A quick search shows sand, black and bluegrass green are available at David Morgan or The Hattery. You can also get Campdrafts from most Akubra sellers, those are just the two I have used. You might also get lucky and find one of the brown ones on eBay from time to time. I have one and love it, though mine did taper quite a bit in the crown (that happens sometimes with Akubra - quality contol is not their strong suit).

RM Williams still has them. Calling it mid brown. Kinda pricey for a Campdraft but ya know. Lol

Close enough. I need one. Fuel the fire

It is very close. Not sure if there is a noticeable difference. Here is at least one dedicated thread:

My Akubra "RM" is very much like my Campdrafts, but it is not a snap brim hat like the Campdraft is. The RM brim is more of a typical "outback" shape - flat out on the sides, sloped down slightly front and back. Otherwise I think they're the same hat, dimensionally anyway. Looks to me that the hat in the photo could be a Campdraft, or something very similar, with the brim snapped up all around.

Either model is a great hat, just depends on the brim style you prefer. I like the outback style on my casual and western hats, and a snap brim on my "dressier" ones, so I appreciate them both. ;)

Good luck with your choice, BdSal!

I've looked at the RM, but while on paper and from people's descriptions they appear close, to me they look very different in pictures. Especially the product photos on their website. The RM crown looks very tapered and disproportionately tall, in my opinion. I like the straightness and proportions of the hat in the pic I attached.

Too bad they don't do the Campdraft in a darker color other than black. I really like the mid and dark brown tones of other hats.

Thanks for the help identifying that!

Anyone recognize this tag? Hoping it might be a MacLachlan but usually Mac tags have the Mac name on them. Thanks.

I recognized that tag right away as I purchased this hat on Etsy yesterday. I'm really hoping someone might have more information about it. The hat appears to be very well made in my opinion.

If you look for a Camp Draft in Cedar Brown you’ll have that hat. They were from around 2015 i believe.

My first post here!

So I'm looking into getting a custom hat made. Probably by Hufvud Hatmaker. I'm thinking an open road-style hat in silverbelly. However, I'm quite unsure about dress weight or western weight. What would be the reasons to go with one or the other? I live in a mostly urban area and I don't plan for it to be a working hat.

I think dress weight will be fine as you will be using the hat for dress and dress casual purposes. Western weight is used mostly by hatters that make hats for working cowboys, ranchers, farmers etc. Western weight is heavier and more robust.......made to standup to the rigours of its intended use. If you won't be wearing the hat herding cattle (or even cats) out in the elements then go with the dress weight. After all, think of the vintage hats that are so popular here in the Lounge..........the majority of them are dress weight fedoras and they have held up well for upwards of 50 to 100 years of dress usage.

Thank you so much for the reply! Will go with dress weight then!

Yes, as Robert said, stick with dress weight.

Thank you! Been considering making an account here for a while. Very happy I did. Everyone is so friendly! And I will definitely stick to dress weight then. I'm stuck behind a government desk and won't work the fields anytime soon haha
