I fired it up today and finally did a little steaming and shaping on a scratch built hat project thats been sitting around incomplete for a while... I love this Jiffy thing! Now I need to fit and sew in a sweat, and do an edge binding so I can claim its almost a hat! Glad I spent some time with some serious pouncing ... the finish is really really nice. Have not added any stiffener yet but this butter soft felt seems to be holding its shape nicely...my old hand steamer just didnt do the trick (this is my first built from scratch hat)

Question, is an Agnoulita fedora good for an everyday wearer? I have a Hufvud on order, the Bogart, but would be reticent to wear it everyday. I’ve heard good and bad about Agnoulita, also from this forum, and want to ask your esteemed gentlemen’s opinion. I especially worry as what I would like to get is a 20’s style teardrop fedora with a ribbon bound edge and I remember that some from this site bought a ribbon bound hat and was dissatisfied with it when he received it? Let the answers pour forth!

I want a Stetson hat (cowboy style but with a somewhat flat brim). I'm looking online, but I'm new to this, and I don't always know what to look for to see if the item is authentic.
I found a hat that I like:
- 4x beaver felt
- It has the proper color
- Shape
- Brin is not too big
- The inline printing seems legit (it indicates the hat is between the '70s - '90s, the year is not important)
The questions:
- Is the leather band original? Did Stetson make them without the JBS or any other pin?
- And is there anything else that I would need to look for?

In general, unless you're buying from some weird Facebook ad with a price too good to be true, I personally don't really think counterfeit Stetsons are a thing. And if I were knocking off Stetsons, I sure as heck would not be doing this era of hats, where we had already passed into "Stetson in name only."
I doubt very much that band is original, but if you like it, so what? Looks like the Man with No Name style that was pretty popular in that era.
Since you are here asking the Lounge, I would also make the case for seeking out an older hat. Even just going another decade back to the 60's, you will most likely end up with a better hat. Also, generally flatter brims on Westerns the older you get. There were also more models with a slightly more modest 3.5" or 3" brim (see below). Although it might seem counter intuitive based on the hat above, I would adjust your search parameters to look for a 3x hat. It's a more common grade among vintage hats and are very well regarded. Certainly better than a 70s-90s 4X hat in spite of what the X's might otherwise imply.
This is a 60's era hat (or at least was renovated by Shudde bros in that window).

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I wouldn't think it would be worth faking a Stetson hat and selling it here in the EU.
To be honest, I don't have enough experience with felt, wool and animal hair hats to be looking for anything specific. It's more a matter of what I think looks good. I don't care if it's from the 60s or the 90s or the 20s.
Also, the selection here in the EU is slim and the shop prices can even be 2-3 times what you would pay for the same quality in the USA.
