I thought there was a straw hat thread in here, but all I am able to find is Buntal and Panama threads. Can someone point me in the right direction , Thanks
You will never get the crisp look of a fine fur fedora out of a packable hat. Yes, they are serviceable, look ok for a casual travel hat. I never pack a fedora. I wear it, carry a silk bag in my pocket and when on the plane place my hat in the bag and place under the seat.I see that smashable wool fedoras don’t have many fans here and some of the responses led me to believe that wool was the weak link.
Does the same apply to a rabbit packable hat?

Interesting. I'll be flying about 10k miles next week and I guess that means I should not bring my hat.
On another note, what do you call this measuring device?
It’s just our artful way of describing hats with brims that may be longer to the front and back than on the sides or vise versaI see some hats referred to as having a dimensional brim which implies that the opposite must also be true and that's not possible.
What exactly is that a reference to?

Thanks Bama this was one of the two that I had found. I have seen so many fine straws, milans, leghorns, and vintage straw hats in different threads this last couple of years that I figured there must be a thread just dedicated to all vintage straws. If you haven't seen this one, over 200 pages here, georgie.

A "Hat size measurerer" They are neat to own but very expensive to buy.Interesting. I'll be flying about 10k miles next week and I guess that means I should not bring my hat.

Depending on the weather at my destination I wear my fedora or a tweed newsboy cap. If a sunny locale I wear my Panama. Packing in a silk bag with a velcro closure protects the hat while under your seat. Way cheaper solution than buying a hat when you arrive.Interesting. I'd rather call it a cranial circumference caliper. You could charge even more with a name like that.A "Hat size measurerer".
Gotcha. Thank you, I'll just have to get used to it then.Noop. It’s a body shape and style thing. Won’t change. More expertise in the leather jacket section though
A Victorian Phrenology & Craniology Caliper.I'd rather call it a cranial circumference caliper. You could charge even more with a name like that.
Have you perused these pages of Milans, Georgie?I thought there was a straw hat thread in here, but all I am able to find is Buntal and Panama threads. Can someone point me in the right direction , Thanks
