Just got my montecristi from him.. its the lower count weave. I'm really loving it and he was able to shape it by hand. He mentioned the higher weave ones dont shape by hand so well and need to be blocked, but he was pleased with this one. I asked for a low crown diamond and he delivered an outstanding hat.

I'm really happy with it and snapped a few low light pix handheld, but you can see the shape is really nice...

Its going to be a permanent fixture on my head this summer :D

Indy, Tom,

Thanks for the credits and to all fellow VS appreciating loungers.
My post No. 1000 went for Colby Jack, whose thread I just saw when posting No. 1000.
Such a "co-incidence".
Also one new VS hat but I think that is Arts most powerful one.

Thanks for being here.

This has a special greenish coloured ribbon. As usual it is a work of art. Art, thank you very much!

Daizawaguy,

Congratulations with the hat.
You inspired me again.
Bravo.:eusa_clap

Dguy,

It was your hat again that inspired me to get this Sandy Fantasy come true.
The flesh and blood one was my neighbour between 1991-1996 in Budapest before she begun her adult career...:p

BTW we share common taste and master craftsmen in respect of a master hatter (VS hat) and a master shoemaker (Vass antique cognac cordovan Budapest).

Kudos to you soul brother. I saw your wonderful shoes here. Congratulations on that too. Our tastes are similar indeed.

Beautiful! Can you give us the usual stats?

Dear Kao,

Sand colored pure beaver, normal weight.
Black lining, dark brown leather sweatband.
I asked open crown and did the bashing, (what bashing, a few smooth strokes and the shape is there) 7 cm brim, the crown height is now 14 cm bashed, please kindly convert into inches. My size is 61 cm.
The hat came with feathers which I removed and safeguard.
Hat hawk I am I pluck all the feathers away.

Daizawaguy,

See we have similar tastes but Art managed to bring out two totally different variations. Different brim finishing, different ribbon treatments, different dimensions, etc. etc. Just like with the Vass shoes - similar, yet different.

Vass: We both have different medallion patterns on the toe, inspired by Magyar folk art. You have sleek feet to take the lace up shoes while I my feet get almost exclusively bluchers -I buy mostly Budapesters, what else could I do as a shoe pornist from Budapest...[huh]

But your shoes seem to be preserved judged from your photo... my Budapester with cognac boxcalf from 2004 gets the use and it has more creases... Your full-brogue oxfords seem to be red cognac boxcalf. In this respect we seem to be also similar - we buy some items l'art pour l'art.

Once more thanks to the masters.

Tom

Thanks. That's a 2.75" brim and 5.5" crown. Nice bash, too.
