Met the USPS person as I was leaving the gym this morning. I exchanged some Holiday cookies for the signed box from Art Fawcett. I had baked some molasses sugar cookies and added Holiday silver/gold sprinkles on top. I love those cookies with coffee! The USPS person took cookies and a "To Go Cup" of Costa Rican coffee.

I opened the cardboard shipping box. Love the sharp black hat box.

More to come as I have a busy day. Best, Eric -

Double teaser!:(

Apologies guys. I am guilty as charged. I am running errands with my Ipad2 and the resultant pics are not grand. So as not to continue to tease, below is a poor pic of the new VS.

More to come...... Eric -

Hulk; Your new hat is darn sharp. The ribbon work is grand and the unique style catches my eye. I would love to see a head shot.

Enjoy the new hat sir. Eric -

Here we go! I feel must apologize for the hideous scowl on my face. It was because the camera I used to take these pictures was giving me a great deal of frustration, -not because of any displeasure with the hat(which I love). As for my face itself, lets just say the hat is by far the handsomest thing in the picture. lol.

Yeesh, it looks like I'm about to spout off a clever catchphrase before I plug someone... I'll eventually post a good one of me smiling like the nice guy I really am and not whoever the lunatic is in the above pics.

Green muscled guy; the hat looks even better on than the pics. The dimensions (height of crown, brim curl details, brim width) compliment your features sir. I color corrected the posted pics to pick up the blue and I really like how it compliments the jacket and shirt colors. The blue really is appealing. I stood ambivalent as to the architectural ribbon work until the hatted pics. I understand the appeal and enjoy the look. It works for you sir! Good for you and Art.

BTW; I did show the pics, shortly ago, to my wife and she commented that your pics show you to be ruggedly handsome. Admittedly, she is biased as she is happily married to me. (I am never sure why, but pleased none-the-less!)

Looking sharp in your fancy new hat sir. Best, Eric -

I have some tasks that have to get done before traveling this weekend. I will see about posting up better shots later today.

Well Hulk, as a happy owner of two VS hats I am all of a sudden thinking of turning that number into THREE 'cause I want one just like yours! (See? Art should hire you to model his hats:))

The Fedora Lounge seems to be costing me a lot of money!!!

The earlier shot had me thinking Moss Green, now the most recent shot has me thinking Blue Smoke, or Granite.

Please excuse my brevity, as I do not a lot of time today.

My bags are packed and I will be heading out to the airport shortly to be back on Sunday afternoon. I am wearing my new VS dark moss fedora. The hat has a 2.5" brim and a 1 7/8" ribbon. Here is a quick pic as I am meeting gymnasts and heading out.

Here is an interior pic of the hat for aficionados.

More details to follow. Enjoy the weekend folks. Best wishes, Eric -

And now for something completely different

well, a little different at least :)
Art is justly famed for his ribbon work but he did something for me recently that I've never seen on any of his hats before.

When Art told me he had added forest green to his felt colors I asked him to replicate this Dobs Gamebird from a 1947 add

DobbsGamebirdad1947-2.jpg

however at the time he was not able to do the felt band so we opted for a basic ribbon

when I was at Art's place in September I saw a piece of felt that was trimmed from the brim of another forest hat he had made, and he agreed to replace the ribbon with a felt band, and here finally are the pics. Thanks to whoever ordered the stingy forest hat :) Not quite as wide as the original but I like it.

Wow, that felt ribbon makes quite a dramatic difference! And with the color, it works so much better than the original ribbon... very well done!

Our friend Art has done it again! I told him I wanted a 1940's styled hat with fairly straight taper, high crown and 2 3/4" bound brim and he came up with this stunner:

I've only taken it off over the past two days to go to sleep.
