Oh gee. I am not that inspiring. I just like hats and their history. :D
I just had to go through the hat room last night and move it around because I am having some window work done in that room. Talk about work. :eusa_doh:

Its not just a room--its an adventure. :p

This one reminds me so much of the feel of some of the men's hats in Impressionist paintings like this one by Renoir. It's definately my favorite of your hats :)

I call it my Renoir hat. Has a weird story behind it. The former owner was given it by her father-in-law in the 1960s; it was his before then. The woman wore it backwards for four decades afterward. I did some reblocking of the crown ... and yes, I wear it forwards. ;)

Here's a side view, as modeled by "Helmut":

That hat has a great color. I have a Knox Milan weave in the same color but it has a more homburg flavor to it,

Such a fabulous collection, Marc Chevalier!!...
  • Later 1920s black “Stetson” fedora (my absolute favorite!)
  • 1940s grey “Adam” fedora (best overall look)
  • 1940s violet purple “Citation” fedora (the color borders on incredible!)
  • 1940s blue “College Club Hats” wool felt fedora (excellent shape and ribbon -- I actually think the "wool" makes the texture of this one all the better?!)

...but those are absolutely spectacular!

Thanks for sharing. :)

:eek:fftopic:

hm. Well, in that case -- I'll just reprise this guy to do a little "window work" of his own...

...he hopes with all his

that the hats are now a little closer to the window in question -- (and quite a bit further away from that four-legged piranha that you call your pet dog?!) :D

(Sorry, J.P. -- I tried all day to stifle, but I just couldn't help myself!)

I thought something similar. It reminded me of the hat that Van Gogh wears in the great biopic by Maurice Pialat.

You inspire me! Just look at how tidy that hat collection is - and all boxed too! I guess you've never opened a closet door and experienced the rain of hats.

that happens to me all the time. I hate it when the derby hits me on the head. It's hard and it hurts.

Well, you just had to go and buy that hat crown-removing machine, didn't you?!

If it turns out that you've started a fashion trend -- we'll all be wearing paper plates on our heads for summer and changing over to melmac during the winter season...

...That wasn't a bad picture I took of myself, considering I was just screwing around. Nice teeth huh?:D

So you're the one, eh?!

Thanks to you, I've started up The Melmac Lounge - forum for crown-less hat fanciers! :D

i like these the best! i seem to go for the ones with a shorter crown - ones that aren't so tall on top.

Great look to this hat Marc.

It's like when a tinge of blue is added to white to make it look extra crisp white, the color really stands out as crisp.

Not one for everyday wear, however!

In order to reacquaint older members and acquaint newer members with the Chevalier collection, i'll bump this thread, and add the Kurtz collection. Here are all of my vintage hats. These are the various hats that escaped my cull for one reason or the other.
