Well, it came! After three months of waiting, it's here. Mostly dry bash with just a touch of steam to set in a few creases. This one is STIFF compared to my BlueGrass Green CD. But this feels like it will break in nicely. Anyway, there's nothing here you haven't seen a million times, but hey... who of us can turn away from gratuitous hat photos .

Javadave, I was sitting here agonizing over whether I want to go with another CD or another Peters Bros. hemp. I'm still not sure, but every time a see that Silverbelly CD my ordering finger gets itchy. Tough decision.

Add it to your shopping cart on the EA site, and you will get a pop-up showing estimated shipment time. Note that Sam bundles his orders to the factory, and typically places them on the last Friday of the month, so in some cases a 3 month ship date is a conservative estimate.

It's a lovely hat. And I already have Silverbelly Overload. But one thing I forgot to mention was how much I love the slightly contrasting ribbon, versus my Stetson ORs. It's almost an olive color. It's what sold me on yet another Silverbelly.

But, another Peter Bros would be a great addition too. I mentioned in another thread that I tossed in the Akubra Capricorn in my order, and it's already by far my favorite straw, though a poly one for sure. So toss in an Akubra straw if you get the CD.

JD, thanks for the info. I may just do it, especially as the pricing is so astonishingly low right now. The thing that's causing all the trouble is a hat that was posted early in the PB thread: it's a natural-colored hemp with a dark ribbon and brim-edging. I've always really liked the Stetson straws with that look, but they don't come in my size of 7 7/8, which severely limits the models available to me.

To expand on 89quattro's response, Everything Australian doesn't keep a lot of the hats they sell in stock. If they have the hat you want in your size in stock, they ship almost immediately; if not, they order it from Akubra and usually have to wait for them to make it, which is why they advise their customers of the dreaded three-month waiting period. Hats Direct, on the other hand, keeps a much larger stockpile of the hats they sell, which is why they almost always ship a day or two after receiving your order. But, using the Campdraft as an example, you'll currently pay about $18 more (not including shipping) for the same hat if you order it from Hats Direct.

So that's the trade-off - order a hat from Everything Australian and wait three months, or order it from Hats Direct and pay more but get it much sooner.
