Works for me! As a matter of fact, I've posted that shrinking technique at least four times (over the past few months) on a couple of different threads...

for the record before I say this... I've never done anything like this to my hats before

a couple of my Akubra hats still fit very slightly loose ... I like my hats pretty tight...

I've had some reduction tape inside since getting them. today I wet the inside of the sweat on two of them and put them in the car for only about an hour ... the result was pretty fantastic. they both fit exactly how I like them to now and the reduction tape is gone awesome !!!!

Excellent sir. I too like to wear my hats snug.

My experience has been to wear the hat in inclement (rainy weather), dry it in a warm bathroom until dry, and treat the leather sweat with Lexol . The CD shrunk up just enough.

The Akubra CD is my most durable weather hat. It "takes a lick'n and keeps tick'n."

HD wouldn't or couldn't give me any shipping/tracking info when I ordered my Fed and I asked... I too paid for the less xpensive shipping. Cost abt $30.

Glad to hear this. They were not so organized a few months ago with one of my orders. Maybe, they are listening.

not nearly as nice as Erics ... to me anyway

My previous experiences ordering from Hats Direct were the same as Mr. Roberts', i.e. no tracking information was provided. But my last purchase from them was nearly two years ago, so things may have changed since then. I suppose I'll find out soon. :D

It's too bad EA doesn't carry a wider range of styles and colors. If they did, there'd be no reason to go with anyone else. Both of my dealings with them have gone as well as it's possible for an international deal to go.

Yes, but I contact them first - even if what I want is not listed. Only takes an email to find out what is possible.

I assume (with no real facts to support my theory) the issue with EA is that they're limited on in-house storage space, which is why they don't always have stock in every size or color of every hat they sell. If I'm right, this limitation may be part of the reason they don't offer a wider variety of Akubra's hats and/or colors.

I'm still trying to figure out how EA can charge so much less than the others. At that price range, $25.00 is a considerable difference. You're probably right about the storage, as EA carries all sorts of stuff.

My guess is that they can sell their hats at a lower price because of the other products they sell, i.e. they sell more volume overall than a company like Hats Direct/The Hattery which only sells hats, so they can afford to lower their prices to be more competitive. Stack 'em deep and sell 'em cheap!

Whatever it is I'm all for it. $86.00 for a CD has to be one of the best deals around.
I agree. On the other hand, it almost makes it too easy to buy a new Campdraft. "Hmmm, $86 for a new hat, or should I put that money towards the cable bill...or the gas bill...or the electric bill...or buy gas...or..." They're enablers, I tell you! lol
