Hello everyone,I'm a new comer in FEDORAS.
I love vintage style clothes 30s~60s era.
My most fav is leather wear(military, cycle, sport etc) and most interesting is leather tailored brand(Aero,LW etc).
By the way,one question,I saw a scarce(never seen) aero jacket in used shop.
Does anyone have or know about this?

It appears that jacket has been taken off the website. I was told it was so heavy, you wouldn't get much use out of it in the UK climate, so I suspect it was one of those that was only done to order rather than a 'general stock' jacket like a Highwayman or Half Belt.

Heh. I think more on the grounds that the luftwaffe was lined completely with heavy black shearling. I asked Will about it once, and he'd said that he thought it was fantastic looking but incredibly heavy duty for a temperate climate like the UK's and didn't think you wouldn't get much wear out of it. Don't know how different it is from an Irvin or a B-3, though, so can't comment.

Thanks for reply,Sloan1874.
This is deleted model like Winter Luftwaffe ,Arado?
Shearling lining is luxurious but too heavy to wear in town.

How is a heavy HH jacket not useful in the UK climate? I've only visited, but it surely was cold enough to use mine there. Maybe I'm just a gurl? lol

It certainly is an interesting jacket. The cut with the scallops both front and back reminds me of Cowboy jackets you would see out here in the west, and in old western movies. I suppose Luftwaffe pilots saw American westerns before the war.

As someone who is just about to order a sheepskin lined leather jacket to wear this winter in the UK (I've been advised that a regular Alpaca lined Aero would not be warm enough), I find the "too heavy" comment intriguing.

You know, I could have sworn I'd seen lots of folks wearing sheepskin lined jackets over here!;):)

I think Will's comments were perhaps limited to the luftwaffe jacket - I was asking him about it, and he said it was extremely heavy. I can only relate what he said. Personally, I have an Irvin pencilled in for my next jacket! As far as the alpaca goes, when I was ordering my LHB, I was advised just to go for a tartan lining and layer for warmth, I live in Glasgow, that way I could get as much use throughout the year. You pays your money, you makes your choice. I don't think any of them are wrong per se, it's down to what you're looking for.

It is certainly possible that some aspects of the Luftwaffe jackets could have been influenced by the designer(s) viewing pictures from another era. It is said that German General Heinz Guderian, the architect of "Blitzkrieg" warfare, studied tactics of those devised by General Nathan Bedford Forrest during the American Civil War and whose code was "the fustest with the mustest" can defeat a much larger enemy. His tactics on the battlefield are still studied by military academies today.
