Yeah on closer inspection, while it has similarities, it's not quite as close as I initially thought. The Aero looks a lot better (obviously) and doesn't have that whole "costume" feel about it.
I always liked the colour of the Fight Club jacket. I gather that in Italy they thought it hilarious, as red leather there is perceived to be "for women". I did wodner whether that was a deliberate nod on the part of the costumers, given that Pitt at other times (notably the dressing gown) wears things that are open to being perceived as effeminate, and given the overall context that a major theme of the whole is questioning the contemporary notion of masculinity.
I still love the film (and the book too for that matter) and its subversiveness. It's a classic and Pitt's best performance by a long chalk.
